Go here and type in your address. I believe if you're in a light blue area, that would be a flood zone. I'm 200 yards away where I'm at.

I'm in a Y zone. That translates into very improbable that I would have a problem. There have been 500 year floods and I sleep better with the insurance. It's just about $400 a year.

Our Swimmies are inflated and we both have Yellow Noodles. You know the ones from the pool!

Part of the answer is can you afford the loss.
Another part is where you home is located. At a low point or a high point in your area.
A friend of mine live on a small river. In a heavy rain the front yard and street would flood ( but not the back where the river was) so they moved their cars to the rear of the home in a heavy rain and had no problems once the water receded.

When Irma hit there were areas in The Villages that were flooded, so to answer your question it depends where you live. Ask your neighbors if there were any problems with flooding during Irma, and use this as a gauge, then as noted above factor in your need to be able to sleep, and if you can withstand the loss ($$$$$).
