I would like to turn off the advertisements (for sale items?) but I'm not sure how. I've been to the User Control Panel (CP) but don't see it there. How do I turn off the advertisements? Thanks for your help.

Go to New Posts. At the top is a red Skip Classified Posts button. Click on it and you should be rid of the Items for Sale.

are you referring to the ads that run along the side of the page(s) ? If so, they can not be turned off as that is how the site makes money.

The ads on the side and the sponsored links is all I see. I guess I'm not sure what the "for sale" items are then. Maybe I don't see those.

I found "New Posts". Thanks. I clicked on "Skip Classified Ads" then refreshed the screen. I still see ads all over the page...on both sides and in between the posts. They are everywhere. In fact, with my not so fast computer, my pages load faily slowly on this website.

What do the "For Sale Items" look like and where are they located? Maybe I'm not seeing them? That was what the original poster of this thread was referring to.

Those ads are how the site makes money, you can not get rid of them and they will never go away.

Located down the sites home page under: "Classifieds in The Villages"

The "For Sale Items" ads that we are talking about are ads from members who have stuff they want to sell.

Then there are ads from TOTV sponsors. This website is free to members like us.
That's because the owners of TOTV make their revenue from taking advertisements, and not from charging the members.

If you look an the right hand side of the New Posts, you will see a forum called Items for Sale in The Villages. This forum is where we, the posters, can post items we want to sell. Many of the members do not want to see these posts so TOTV put in a fix so that you could "opt out" of these posts.

Unfortunately, there was a problem with an update last week and I read that they are working on it and it should be fixed this weekend.

Patience everyone.

I thought that problem had been corrected a few days ago.
I'm not getting Items for Sale any longer.

You are correct!!! I usually leave them on and turn them off when they overwhelm my screen.

Thanks,
Z
