I agree, and I bought a relatively small portable inverter generator as insurance for the hurricane season. My number one concern, beside it having enough watts to start up the fridge, was how noisy it runs. Quite a bit quieter than our air conditioner units outside our homes in Mallory. We need to be able to sleep with it on. Up north I have a standby generator with a silencer etc. You can still hear it 2 doors away. Did not want something like that here in TV.

I get my McCafe from a keurig cup from my own coffee maker. Just in case I get up half asleep, I have the water already set up and only have to slip a Kcup in and push the button. I ensure myself a cup of coffee. Since you did not have electricity, you could not do that, so I do empathize with you a little bit. Try living overseas in a country where have electricity on is a novelty, not a necessity. Try living in a country where the city water is only on during certain hours. You learn to appreciate this great country and do not get excited or depressed by losing the internet or cable TV for a couple hours.
Sorry you had that traumatic experience. I am sure that I speak for all when I wish you good will and a fast recovery from your trauma. And like you, I enjoy the coffee at McDonald's much more than Starbucks.

1. The power company should be more reliable.
2. McDonalds should open the inside seating area.
3. Cigar smoking should be banned in all dining areas.

Everything is fine now. The power is back on.

My garage door opener is belt drive with a battery back-up! You may want to purchase a new garage door opener before your back goes out and we never hear the end of that! Put your coffee percolator on your gas stove or are we going to hear you don't have a gas stove! Here's a quarter !

Oh, the good ole days when the fast service places gave car window service by young ladies on roller skates. No one complained about the quality of the meal or whether or not it was even warm. Whomever came up with drive up windows should be hung by the thumbs.

Yes, been there. 45 years ago in Saudi Arabia. In the shower, power went out, total darkness, no flashlight, no water, and body covered with soap. That was worth whining about.

Speaking of rumors - there is a rumor that the Colony MD is planning to open inside for seating beginning today June 7. MD’S senior coffee is excellent and the cheapest around at 75 cents plus tax. That price will likely go higher soon. Another rumor.

Cigar smoking is allowed in restaurants in Florida? Is cigarette smoking allowed in restaurants in Florida? I haven’t experienced that in the U.S. in decades.

The line at McDonalds reminds me of the comedian Martin Mull’s song called “Suburban Blues”.

I woke up this afternoon—both cars were gone!
Yes, I woke up this afternoon—both my cars were gone!
I got so upset I threw my drink across the lawn!

Why do you need inside seating to drink a cup of coffee when you've got a perfectly good cup holder inside of your car? That is the puzzle here.

taruffi57 06-07-2021 10:28 AM

So, which of the current TOTV threads qualify as real life problems? Light bulbs, algae, noise, TV shows, Costco, garage doors?

OP question
do you live in one of the Pine Villages? If so do you really lose power couple times a week? If so for how long.
We r looking at couple homes in those Lake county Pine villages, didn’t know it wasn’t Seco.

Yes, I do. No, I don't lose power very often, and when it happens, it is usually for a very short time. Not a major issue. The only negative about Pine Ridge and Pine Hills is that you are in Lake County and Fruitland Park, so you need to check the property tax for the house you are buying. Probably higher than a comparable house in Sumter County. But, the convenience of Colony Plaza and the Walmart grocery store are a definite plus. Ten restaurants within a mile or so.
