I agree.

I don't see anything wrong with the original posters posing this question:

What's wrong with taking chairs that have nobody in them???

If there are people using them who are up on the dance floor, then fine. The people around those chairs would/could have said "The people using those chairs are up there dancing." I'm sure those who asked for the chairs would have understood and dropped the idea for those. End of story.

This whole business of "saving seats" is so 3rd-grade girlish. Like saving seats at the school cafeteria table or on the school bus, to establish a territory and select group in which I was clearly not accepted.

I thought people were more grown-up than this, but then, thank God it's only a handful out of 90,000 who act like this.

Good question and with no one around, take the seat and enjoy it. Saving seats is childish and very very very very inconsiderate to anyone standing and wishing a place to plant it. I mean, who do you think your are to say this is mine whenever I get around to needing it. Shame Shame on you and your self righteous butt. If I wasn't old, fat, little and in bad shape, I would never let an idle chair stay reserved for some jerk off eating or shopping. Thank you to those brave enough to stand up for what is right.

I agree with redwitch - if the folks were dancing, went to the drink stand for a refill, etc., then they should be considered taken. But I believe most people will leave something on those chairs (sweater, jacket, hat, etc.) as an indication.

Hmmmm.... I would have to put mine in front of the row of seats that are all roped off together !

If a so called saved seat isn't used in 5 minutes, then use it,
what can the saver do, shoot you?
call the seat police.......

It is not funny to joke about being shot over some nonsense thing like a chair in The Villages. A very large percentage of the residents have concealed carry permits. All it takes in Florida to get one is a copy of your DD-214 (no matter when it was issued) with an honorable discharge and about $75. No classes or tests are necessary.

There have been instances in The Villages where someone has "showed" their pistol to intimidate another person over parking spots. I can see it happening over taking a seat that supposedly was saved.
