From this morning's paper about the attempted robbery in the parking lot at the hospital.

The Villages-Sumter County Sheriff's Office officials are seeking information about a man they believe took part in an armed robbery of a woman Wednesday morning at The Villages Hospital, according to agency officials.

According to an agency release, the robbery took place at approximately 8:50A.M. in the north parking lot of the hospital.

A woman told police that she left her vehicle and was walking across the parking lot when a car pulled up to her and a black male in the vehicle told her to give him her purse and brandished what appeared to be a semiautomatic handgun, the release stated.

The woman refused and fled on foot, sustaining minor injuries from a fall, according to the release. The man reportedly did not exit the vehicle, the release stated.

The woman described the man as being of medium build, possibly in his mid-30s, with short hair in braids, and wearing a dark, long-sleeved shirt, according to the release.

He was driving what was described as small gray car, which was last seen leaving the parking lot on to Clemente Court and El Camino Real.
