I concur. Our humidistat has saved us a bunch. It paid for itself in less than two months.

IMO the savings of using a humidistat is a tough thing to measure, month to month, year to year, too many variables.

That said, it is logical they save some money and I am not trying to convince anyone to not get one.

My real point is be a bit careful with them. They are typically very inaccurate. When I would watch my Dad's FL home, I would leave a hygrometer at his home (calibrated with a salt test). His home did not match what he had it set for.

82 is too cool for an empty house. We have ours on 83 degrees and we live here year-round. Our home is all electric masonry CYV 2 BR, and our normal bill in the summer is about $85 and this last one was $93. We usually have a ceiling fan on as well.

Your bill sounds about right considering the warmer weather.
Our PV is only 1100 sq ft and our bill was just
$10 less than yours!
We also set the thermostat at 82 and leave
two ceiling fans running at low speed.

I've been roughing it at 72 degrees. 1250 sq ft. Give me a guestimate??? $$$$. 5 new ceiling fans. Two hot newbies. Hot as in heat. LOL.

Gardenia at 78 during day, 70 at night.

June 7 to July 7, $190.38 for 1,700 sf.

Thermostat set at 72 deg. during the day, 68 deg. at night.

Last year during the same period was $193.21.

Life's too short to try and save a few pennies on air conditioning...in a Florida summer. :shrug:

Yep now that's hard to swallow

My present bill is $110 for a patio villa of 1100 sq ft with A/C set for 78 degrees.

I know my A/C has one foot on the banana peel and one foot in the coffin and it's has been a hot summer.

Will change out in the winter months as it supposed working ok, for now. At least, that's what Chuck says.......

2000 sf set at 78 bill was only $36. We were not. Home last cycle but we leave temperature at 78 most all the time. WH was shut off of course.
