Some, not all. I did not shut off power and have had no problems 90 days later.

SECO is instaling Smart Meters - I guess they help us monitor usage, and maybe send readings automatically every month?

My question is are these brand new meters? Because I just looked at last months bill and the current one and I have a past reading and a current reading. I am not sure when our meter was changed though because we are not full time residents.

This month's PAST reading was last month's CURRENT. They provide both so you can see the subtraction to get KWH USED.

When my new meter was installed it started at 0 which gives me much reason to believe they are new meters.

The surge is to blame for my a/c blower motor being fried.

Should be lucky that you have SECO ! First they are much less that other Florida Power Companies, more reliable and they use modern technology!

I agree Seco should have shown the two readings. I saw the Seco tech changing my neighbor's meter and immediately noted my meter reading. Upon receipt of my bill I read my meter and did a quick calculation to ensure the kWh charged were correct. Since 2 days had elapsed since the reading I expected a slight difference. My usage appears correct based on the usage reported on my bill.

I was away the week my meter was exchanged. When I returned home my air conditioner no longer worked. Seems a capacitor was blown.
I’m thinking it may have been due to the power being cut off while my air conditioner was running.

SECO has more important things than cheating

Just curious if anyone else has had this email from SECO. We got the new meter over a month ago and received the bill in the mail as usual. But that was followed up by an email a few days later with my bill broke down into categories and the cost for each category. Pool pump $XX, lights $XX, laundry $XX, cooking $XX, A/C $XX and so on for a dozen or so categories. The thing that confused me was the thirty some-odd dollars for cooking when we have a gas stove. I'm wondering how the meter could differentiate usage between all the categories?

It is guessing based on the inputs you provided for your home profile. If you have provided nothing then it is a WAG. Login to your account, fill out the home profile, wait a couple of months, then see if it doesn’t look better.

There should be a question mark at the end of your sentence.
Power flickers on and off a few times a year, or maybe off for a longer time.
We are in the lightning capital of the US.
