Security Cameras
I would be interested to hear how you feel about the Amenity committee voting to spend 19,000 dollars to place security cameras at the RV storage lot?It would seem that they have established a dangerous precedent. We cannot start spending public funds to benefit special interest groups.According to the Daily Sun there was only one incident at this location.I realize that there are millions of dollars involved and this is only a drop in the bucket but if this sort of spending continues it will quickly disappear.I would call for the committee to give this situation serious consideration with a thought to resinding this motion.

Don't the users pay for the privilege for storing their vehicles there? If so, wouldn't it make sense for them to pay out of there own funds?

I sent the following e-mail to my representative since he voted for it:
I am very disappointed in your first action in spending our amenity dollars. It would seem to me that the security for a facility that charges rent should come from the rent charges. What’s going to be next? Maybe security cameras at the bowling facility’s rental lockers for bowling balls and shoes? I guess before I voted for you I should have had an understanding of what your definition of an amenity is. I’d be interested to know how many Village residents use the RV lots. I know a couple of RV owners and if they could find a buyer, they would sell their RV money pits. In my opinion you have initially served a very small group of residents. Even Community Watch thought this was unnecessary. I am an active person. I take part in bocce, golf, pickleball, social clubs, and ride the multi-modal paths in my golf cart. I also go to the town squares and rec. centers for entertainment. I believe I know what’s going on around The Villages. For future reference, I am against pool monitors. The isolated violations do not warrant the expenditure. I am against using amenity dollars to widen the multi-modal paths on El Camino Real and Buena Vista just to make them wider. Sections can be made wider as repairs are needed and then use caution in determining who is actually responsible for the cost.

Amenity fee's
I for one am dead set against spend amenity fee's for security cameras at the RV storage site ,,, However I am FOR pool monitors as its a small problem now but without oversight it would become an enormous problem...
Golf Cart paths north of 466 ??? You betcha, I don't feel we could get more benefit from our excess fees. The widening of our paths has become a priority with the increase in traffic they are become more dangerous everyday,,,95% of us use these paths everyday and when we are on the paths south of 466, they are a dream to drive , but north its like playing dodgeball....... I made a post a few days ago about a lady who passed me near Glenview on a blind curve and it was a miracle that no one was coming from the other direction ,,Someone is going to die one of these days folks and I only hope its not me.......... PS She had a Hi Speed gas cart and I couldn't catch her.... left in the dust Fumar..........

Just to clarify, here's why I'm against pool monitors:
in very ROUND numbers 20 pools monitored on average 10 hours per day (365peryear) equals 73,000 hours. At $5 per hour the spend would be $365,000 And, I agree, the paths north of 466 are narrow and, I agree, the people drive too fast and, I agree, that equals a dangerous situation But I exercise as much caution is spending $$$$$ to widen the paths as I do to drive on them. To widen the paths with a broad stroke across the northern half of The Villages would be costly and I don't think it would reduce accidents 'significantly'. Now, I know ONE life saved or ONE injury averted makes it worth while but I have heard of a couple of accidents SOUTH of 466 recently and none on the north. Bear in mind I'm not saying 'don't widen', I'm just saying go slow on this project "and in your golf cart".

Amenity fee's
Interesting comments ,
However I'm not advocating 20 pool monitors setting with their feet up and reading books , what I had in mind was 4 or 5 monitors traveling on their assigned route of 4 to 5 pools checking ID's .... Also I'm not advocating a BROAD STROKE repair of the cart paths north of 466........ However I do think that to resurface and widen the paths on Buena Vista and Camino Real would be money well spent . The concrete sections are separating further apart every year and now a trip down memory lane is a teeth chattering experience...... I sure we can find all kinds of projects to spend money on , but to get the biggest bang for the buck for the most Villagers would be to place the two major cart paths on the top of the list....... This is how I see it and being born in Carter County , Missouri I'm not likely to change my mind... Fumar ..

I had a long conversation with my represntative today.
He explained that the rent at the RV lots is income that goes INTO the amenity fund. This income is approx $200,000+ That being the case I can understand why they took the money from the amenity fee to buy the cameras. I don't necessarily agree with the need but that's why amenity money was used. For those of you NORTH of 466, the next meeting is Feb 11 and tentatively scheduled to be at the Savannah Center unless otherwise noted.

Would it be feasible for the people driving around in the Community Watch vehicles to stop in at the pools (when they are already passing by them) and check ID's?
