I heard that too!!! Sweetbay does the same thing. (Manager told us that)

PapaLarry. You know I always like your posts, so please know this is a respectful question.

Does it really matter?

They are yummy and not too expensive.

They always taste fresh to us.

I used to watch my Italian grandmother bake, make macaroni, etc, on Sat. mornings when I was a child. That's where I got my inspiration to "go homemade" :-) My sister was a pastry chef on Nantucket and Boston area, and she also bakes still from scratch. Now that I no longer work and I have alot of time for myself, I really enjoy having fun baking, cooking AND best of all eating (in moderation of course) the fruit of my labor. Plus, my husband likes it alot better. I miss (big time) the Italian bakeries and Italian deli's that I to frequent in and around the Boston area, especially in the North End!!

Yes so true, but one time we bought carrot cake @ Sweetbay, that was 3/4 icing and 1/4 cake. So we told the manager, and he took us to the bakery, where the lady said to manager, we don't bake carrot cakes here. We just put the icing on them. One rectangler cake, we slice down, and make two cakes out of it, with icing between slices. We felt there was too much icing (which manager agreed) and not much cake. Thats the only time it would matter. I guess you go to the old saying, "Can't have your cake and eat it too" So now can order carrot cake with just icing on top. So that would make it more yummy!!! Another favorite cake besides crumb cake and carrot cake that is our favorite but hard to find, is an "Upside Down Pineapple cake" Love them!!! But yes, always seems fresh to us also

Take 27 South to 40, turn left on 40, about 3+ miles on the right. Organic fruit and veggie stand next door.

BACARDI RUM CAKE RECIPE

This is the cake , partially from scratch, but still delicious....that was all the rave back in the ‘80s and ‘90s.

I’d make it for our Christmas parties and New Year’s Eve parties all the time.................very easy to make.

I used the large tube pan.....

You can decorate it with whipped cream and grapes/berries......or just leave it plain. Nothing like a rum cake.

Make cake...drink the rum...who cares what the cake tastes like?!
