I don't need to be in the heat of it all, but I like to be close to the main road, not backed up to eat for sleeping, but close for easy in easy out to the main highways and roads. I need to be near a Publix, Dollar Tree, and Walmart. LOL that's all the stores I go to, the rest is Amazon.

I don't like smoke either. Rarely is a problem to us who live here 365.

When are you returning to visit us again manabout?

RamQuadCab 08-05-2018 06:22 PM

Neighboring Delaware has taxes like that (800 to 1400) but here in Jersey it is 5800 a year or more. Rarely much less. I like immaculate well manicured lawns. I do not do yard work.

RamQuadCab 08-05-2018 06:23 PM

Sweet!!! What is this village?

Well, the last time I was there I had to deal with more environmental tobacco smoke in three weeks than I deal with in a year in Newport Beach!

Many, maybe most people lose their interest in going to the squares when they begin forming friendships with people and socializing in homes. We haven't been to the square for months and months.

RamQuadCab 08-05-2018 06:30 PM

Thanks for your input. I like Ocola cause of the horses there. If I sell my house, not sure i want to do two moves, to a rental and then to a house. My health is not all that great for that. I moved last year.

RamQuadCab 08-05-2018 06:31 PM

Okay, thanks, I will check it out. If I sell, I'd probably close end of Sept or early October. Maybe sooner. However, like to visit first earlier and go into a purchase.

If horses are important, I think you should then consider Ocala and not The Villages. We see horses grazing across from our Village on 466. They belong to Mark Morse; the builder brother of the Morse family of developers .

There was supposed to be some large plots for homes with horses built up near Nancy Lopez, up north of 466 off Buena Vista, haven't heard anyone mention that lately.

If Champion reads this he will link us to that info. He is always as up on things as possible and never interjects gossip or rumors.

RamQuadCab 08-05-2018 06:33 PM

Wow, that is nice, but 149k over my budget. Looks really huge and nice.

RamQuadCab 08-05-2018 06:35 PM

Thanks for all the great information. You sure make it sound like family. Where I am now it is very quiet, people are nice, and it is beautiful. However, if I got sick or needed help, there is nobody around. I think there at least I could get nursing care or transport.

RamQuadCab 08-05-2018 06:38 PM

What is this? I will check it out. Looking now. Awesome. Tell me about Heritage Pines?

While the smoke was awful at the squares in TV it also was bad enough on CC patios I had to move a few times. And don’t even think about sitting at a table at a restaurant patio there!

It felt a little third worldish regarding protection for non smokers. May be a problem all over Florida. I really don’t know.

I agree that socializing at nonsmoking friends’ homes in TV is fine and dandy as it is all over the planet!

That's a really nice one. I like the wood floors and huge garage. I saw a yellow one on there with a wrap around driveway (Granada CT) I like that a lot.

One would think aged people would not smoke, not only does it stink really bad (something has changed with tobacco, it really reeks) but it is really bad for ones health. Plus, the cost. Ughhh.

Yes there should be at least nursing care or transport, but if you expect neighbors to come over to help, don't hold your breath.

Having lived in many different neighborhoods, I find that the older the neighbors are, the less likely they are to help. It is for this reason I prefer mixed-aged neighborhoods. The children can be so wonderful!

RamQuadCab 08-05-2018 08:29 PM

I tried Delaware for a year....poultry farms!!! No thanks. pew!

RamQuadCab 08-05-2018 08:30 PM

I will check it out. Thanks for your help a lot. The one lady pointed out Heritage Pines Country Club. Looks amazing there, too.

RamQuadCab 08-05-2018 08:33 PM

Those are cool, I like the sideways garage . New, too. Wonder the cost? All open, no trees. Nice

RamQuadCab 08-05-2018 08:39 PM

Smoking and pets is one reason I cannot do condo or townhouse....need some distance from neighbor and definitely not all the building...like a condo or townhouse /twin, that smokes finds its way all through the air cracks and attics, etc into all units esp if below makes its way up.

I was thinking maybe the veterans group helped each other

I am beginning to feel skeptical.

Maybe because he is too old to be Robin?

If you come from NJ, you have to sign up for a class "gas pumping 101)

charmed59 08-06-2018 07:30 AM

I think the squares themselves are no smoking. At least that is the announcement before each show. I can’t say I’ve seen any smoking on the squares and I go quite often. Smoking is allowed on the patios of the restaurants, but again, I rarely am sat near someone who smokes. I think the number of smokers here is fairly small.

The general area is fine for horses. I know Ocola is really big for it, but as long as I can get to a stable within about 30 miles is fine. There seem to be plenty. I see TV has polo and offers lessons. That would be cool

Our neighbors, who are snowbirds from Canada, sometimes bring some of their horses with them. I don't know where they stabled them but it wasn't too far away and they were very happy with the facilities.

RamQuadCab 08-06-2018 08:39 AM

Thanks, mostly everybody has been really helpful. I've always heard about TV and it was wondered about what type of place it really is. Thanks, again.

dbump4462 08-06-2018 08:43 AM

We did the life style visit and then rented for a month
during the Spring. It was the 4th day of our renting that we made the decision to buy. I strongly urge you to move to one of the new neighborhoods. That way most of your neighbors will be new to the Villages and they are all looking to find new friends and new social contacts. In some of the older neighborhoods social and friend groups are well established and it takes a while to get to know people.
I urge you to look a Villages South of Rte 466A. It won't be long when villages South of 466A will be in the middle of it all. By the way, did I mention it was the best move we ever made.:bigbow:

Polo lessons are expensive. Individual lessons $125/half hour, group $100/half hour.

We moved from "FOUR SEASONS" at Manalapan. There is no comparison..........lots to do and enjoy here, a MUCH LARGER community, maybe not for everyone. I too would suggest you rent here before making a final decision. We love it and never looked back . Husband is a disabled vet and uses the VA clinic in the Villages. On occassion had to go the the VA hospital in Gainesville, a little over an hours ride but doable. Feel free to reach out in you decide to visit.

September too, two seasons for them. Really come on down and try it out. A very loose thing, the farther south you go the younger the neighbors.

Chatbrat 08-08-2018 12:48 PM

Yes, that's a good observation--younger in the South side
