Now I understand

The VHA newsletter is printed by and delivered as a supplement to the Daily Sun. That should say enough right there.
By the way, as previous posts on this thread confirm, if a newsworthy event happens or will happen in the Villages it will receive no mention in the Daily Sun unless those associated with the event purchase some advertising space in the paper.
All the news that's fit to print.....Not!

This should clear up all the speculation and accusations that have been posted on this thread. Also Ms Tutt should be commended for her actions.
The POA April bulletin has an article regarding the lack of mention of the word "parade" in the Daily Sun or the radio. The article; The "Bump" in the "Parade" Road, quotes Janet Tutt, District Supervisor. She explains why this occurred and took responsibility for it happening. The John she speaks of is John Rohan, Recreation Director You can read the full text at: http://www.poa4us.org/bulletins_file...etin201304.pdf

This is the summary paragraph quoting Janet Tutt.

"I just want to make sure that the con-cerns (blame) for the lack of media cover-age is in the right place and it really is John and I. We both thought we were sav-ing money. Fortunately the parade was a success and we will know to have adver-tisements next year"

:coolsmiley: All true but still the parade was newsworthy IMHO and shame on our local newspaper (The Daily Sun) for not giving it more attention. It's 75,000 customers deserve better. :ho:

I agree with justjim. I was surprised the paper did not mention it. They sure give a lot of ink to people who collect matchbook covers, beer cans, etc. IMHO this was a human interest story about Villagers doing something nice. I rather think they will cover the next one, probably in October. That would be the Oktoberfest and or Italian parade in conjunction with the same festival. The Daily Sun is probably like most of us, they learn by making mistakes. I sincerely doubt it was omitted out of meanness. There would be no reason to do so.

The happy paper (daily sun) is a marketing tool for The Villages, and an excellent one at that. It was not omitted out of meanness, but because it does not promote living or buying in The Villages.

Quote directly from POA Bulletin: If you are a snowbird/seasonal resident, please let us know the months you are gone, and we will stop delivery of the Bul-letin during that time (while you are away you can find the current, as well as ar-chived Bulletins, on the poa4us.org web-site). Just email our distribution manager at delivery@poa4us.org with your name, village, address, and the months you will be away, and we will add you to our ‘No Throw” list for that time. If we inadver-tently deliver to an unoccupied house, thank you in advance if you or one of your neighbors can pick up the Bulletin and ei-ther keep or discard it. Shelley Pfaff, POA Distribution Manager, 352-325-1540.
