I back up to small Swamp & turnpike. The noise really doesn’t bother me, it becomes background noise. I’m heard of hearing anyway. lol
I needed a big yard & a fence.
I’m fine with it

We have to, but it’s no big deal, there’s a traffic light where the entrance to our Village crosses Morse. Pulling out of our postal station can be a bitch, which is why I always get the mail at night when the traffic is very light.

While I understand there's probably nothing bad within TV, I am concerned about surrounding areas. Even bubbles have edges.

I assume that around the edges, crime leaks in.

Lawnmowers, power washers can be heard anywhere. Having played golf on Southern Oaks, I would hate to live that close to the turnpike.

As far a NOISE in TV Land goes, I think that the most consistent noise comes from Commercial lawnmowers and then GASOLINE golf carts. Replace those with Electric mowers and E-carts and we could enjoy a nice QUIET TV Land.

I bet the brave people who have the courage to walk on an MMP much prefer the noisy gas-powered golf carts because they can hear them coming.

Yup, my older brother is blind and he hates electric vehicles. He would have been run down more than once if it wasn’t for his wonderful guide dog.

The sad part is that he doesn’t either.

Villages Crime Rate Orange Blossom

Orange Blossom should be avoided. They are talking about putting up a wall between it and the apartments complex going up.

Quote from latest article…” In 2023, a Griffin Road resident and several neighbors who reside along Tarrson Boulevard, voiced safety and security concerns regarding the approved apartment complex that will be constructed in the wooded area across from their properties on Griffin Avenue on the Historic Side of The Villages. Residents said it is a high traffic area with safety concerns, adding that there have been multiple thefts that neighbors currently feel very exposed with just a four-board wooden fence barrier.”

Another “edge” I would avoid is the southern border of Lake Deaton. 44A is ripe for more than one project and there is still the largest pickleball court in the area with 4 story hotel that will be going in.

Normal.....i like your posts and your intelligence. This one is super selective. Should the people that live in the Village where Mr Savage pounded out his gf in the driveway...on a Ring camera (video that was posted/commented on here)....should that be avoided as well? I can cherry pick the crime logs too. The Historic District (OB) is a nice neighborhood. What you're referring to with 'the wall' is probably a Karen/Darren proposal. Those 'crimes' don't rise to a Berlin Wall type response. But since all we talk about is bushes, walls and fences between our properties and our neighbors....why should the OB residents do any less. There...i came full circle!

I never intended this to be about power lines, turnpike noise, etc., but thanks for those comments.

On May 10, 2024, in a letter to the editor of a newspaper of TV, a resident of Caroline wrote about needing a fence, "... we do not want strangers to come into our private yard." They also spoke of "three fatalities" behind their home, and although this sounds like a traffic issue, who knows?

Okay, there's an area to avoid, no?

Several apartment buildings have been built and several more to come. This means a constant flow of transients coming and going. When purchasing a home, pay attention to your surroundings. If you sense an area may be troublesome, stay away! It only takes one or a few to bring havoc to your neighborhood. Remember: The Villages is not a gated community. Anyone can get in or out at any time of the day.

Having said that, there hasn't been much crime in the Villages. But, this doesn't mean you shouldn't keep your guard up. Again, if you feel uncomfortable in an area, STAY AWAY! There are plenty of homes on the market to choose from.

What the heck is a Darren? I volunteer in a youth organization and was given the definition of a Karen by the kids. "Anyone only CARIN' about their own comfort." This could be male or female. I never heard of a Darren. Is this something new?

Not new.
The kids calling you that is not an endearing term. Just sayin'!

Huh? They didn't call me a Karen. I heard it used several ways so I asked the kids what the true meaning was and why it is called a Karen.

I was told. "Anyone who is only CARIN' about their own comfort." Get it? Caring too much about themselves with little regard for others. Karen! A different spelling for Caring. This could be male or female.

In this instance, a group of people concerned about their safety and would like to replace their fence with a stronger fence is not a karen. A KAREN would want a large fence erected around the entire apartment complex so not to be inconvenienced.

Back to my question. What is a Darren? A daring person? As in, he was DARIN' when he should of kept his mouth shout? Seriously, this is the first time I heard of a Darren. (I guess I will have to ask the kids. Lol. I'm just a granny who is not hip to the new lingo)
