Tidy yards and extra stuff parking

Hi, when we inquired about those items, at the Sales Office on two occasions, it was firmly clarified that these infractions would not fly! Very firm controls right? No. However, they do fly, this is after the sale, before the sale the rules were different. Seen it before, sad to see it again.
While shopping for a house, on 2 homes by owners for sale, they do clarify that trying to get something done in the tidy end of things is a bit difficult. So be it.
Please do not pass this off that it is no ones job to take the initiative. If management takes care of this, then it is done properly, if the local residents take the initiative, then the eggs can fly and the major eruptions happen and people move. Sorry to say, this is factual. Have seen it here and elsewhere. :duck:

Why not talk to them first ?
If they are renting maybe they do not know the restrictions.
I believe most people would like a heads up before someone drops a " dime on them ".

Dropping a dime without talking with them first is in my opinion taking a cowards way of dealing with a difficult issue or concern.

Chatbrat 07-25-2016 01:31 PM

They're landlords--they really don't live here-they're waiting on another renter or two--too cheap to spend storage on their POS trailer--its really a piece of junk

Are you referring to Community Watch personnel?
If so, it's not their responsibility to report infractions.
That's a resident complaint-driven process.
If it doesn't bother anyone in the neighborhood, then it's probably visually acceptable to the local community.

Don't forget, clotheslines are acceptable, along with HAM radio antennas. I know flag poles are ok, but what about flags other than the US flag?

I agree, in fact community standards would prefer
you try to work it out together first,
if that is not satisfactory then a complaint can be filed.
If they are out of state you can spend a dime and call them!

Wikipedia,

The term redneck is a derogatory term chiefly used for a rural poor white person of the Southern United States.[1][2] Its usage is similar in meaning to cracker (especially regarding Georgia and Florida), hillbilly (especially regarding Appalachia and the Ozarks),[3] and white trash (but without the last term's suggestions of immorality).[4][5][6]

By the 1970s, the term had become offensive slang, and its meaning had expanded to mean bigoted, loutish, and opposed to modern ways. [7]

Patrick Huber has emphasized the theme of masculinity [clarification needed] in the continued expansion of the term in the 20th century, noting, "The redneck has been stereotyped in the media and popular culture as a poor, dirty, uneducated, and racist Southern white man."

Note first that Wikipedia entries are simply someone's opinion. Anyone can go in and modify the entry if they jump through a couple of registration hoops.

That said, the term redneck is said to originally have been used to indicate a farmer, due to the blistering effect of the sun on the back of the farmer's neck when working in the fields. Often, early farmers were less educated than city dwellers, so a degree of ignorance became associated with the term. Over time the term evolved to the definition given above.

The term "Cracker," most often associated with Florida or Georgia, is subject to controversy, particularly in Florida. Old line Florida families tend to insist the term referred to the early cattlemen who "cracked their whips" over cattle that were being driven. Today, there are more than 1 million head of cattle and 15,000 beef producers throughout Florida. Currently, Florida ranks 9th in overall cattle numbers nationwide.

The competing view, offered more often by Civil Rights activists, is that it referred to cracking whips on the backs of slaves.

So, whether or not being called a Cracker is pejorative depends to a degree on who is using the term and to whom they are referring.

Nucky 07-25-2016 05:50 PM

Mr. Chatbrat you are on the money in my opinion. Who needs that sort of thing in a beautiful community like this, you gave a measured response in my opinion. I think I get your drift on the "Redneck" thing. I take it as you referring to people from the south who act, speak, think and deal with their business differently from what we are accustomed to. They are very wise and have survived a long time here without city slickers like us. I believe they tolerate our ways because we are holding the money that they are trying to pocket by providing different services to us. You can see it when you start negotiating with them, they want to slice you up with their stare. They let us think we're in control but trust me they have us figured out totally. Redneck seems to be derogatory to me but they don't care as long as they get your money.

Carl in Tampa 07-25-2016 05:53 PM

I don't think so...........

I think you have made a major error of fact with regard to Ham Radio Antennas. The only outdoor antennas allowed by the covenants are those receiving antennas for commercial radio and television, which are permitted by federal law.

That is why The Villages Amateur Radio Club provides it's members with instructions on how to build clandestine Ham Radio Antennas in their attics, or otherwise disguised.

Personally, I have a collapsible, portable antenna which I can set up and take down out in the yard or in the garage. It is not as efficient as a big aluminum antenna on the roof, with a rotor, but it has enabled me to make contacts deep into South America, and throughout the United States.

If you have information to the contrary about Ham Radio antennas in The Villages, I would be happy to hear it.

In riding around in my little golf cart today I noticed 5 more homes with For Sale or For Rent signs in the windows. Somebody alert the media. Bad people are in town.

Being a Southern Belle I find great discomfort in this statement. Honestly some of the biggest rednecks I have met come from North of the Mason Dixon Line. What do you call them up there?

We call them rednecks. Perhaps slightly derogatory but not all that bad.

A perfect example would be those that think parking an olive drab trailer, with a tarp and a for sale sign in TV...is perfectly acceptable.

Chatbrat 07-26-2016 06:08 AM

Or maybe they are not bothered sitting next to a person with a sleeveless shirt who hasn't showered in a week. Shaved and has three teeth in their mouth.

We don't see that much around here, but many people like the wood cut out of the bending over plump lady and think it is lovely in their front yards.

Artistic taste is not granted to us all, nor is music ability or good looks.

I am a huge fan of deed restrictions. It keeps me from being too creative and artistic and thus annoying my neighbors.

Only if it's a blue tarp is it considered unacceptable. Brown or green tarps seek favor within all classes of neighborhoods [emoji481]

Harry you know the real history of the term "redneck"

RickeyD 07-26-2016 08:08 AM

This past weekend I installed 80' of stockade fencing along a partial piece of my backyard. This neighbor is an absolute messy person who's backyard resembles Fred Sanfords. I screwed the stockade to my existing post and rail. It looks like real crap on his side but nice on mine, plumb as plumb could possibly be. He can't do a thing about it cause there ain't no town statute against it, Including his junk piles.
Deed restrictions are good. Payback is even better.

regas56 07-26-2016 08:21 AM

Sign, sign, everywhere a sign.
Blockin' out the scenery, breakin' my mind.
Do this don't do that can't you read the sign... Well I guess even in our golden years it never ends...Sigh!!

Please clarify that is NOT HERE. That is back THERE.

A neighbor cut a large limb off of our tree in Cincinnati when we were here in The Villages during our snowbird time in the past. The neighbor felt our limb was interfering with his dish reception. Were we annoyed? You betcha. Did we say or do anything? No. We were gone half of the year. But we KNEW that wasn't nice. We would never have done that to anyone.

I hated owning two homes, but we never had any trouble with our neighbors. It takes two to make a fight. There are those who are raised to confront someone when they think they are out of line and those who are raised to NOT confront someone when they think they are out of line. One will never understand the other. One thinks the other is a big mouth and the one thinks the other is a wuss.

Deed restrictions help everyone, in my opinion.

It all depends on where you live.

And somewhat on ignorance of other people's history.

Some folks think everyone in New York have relatives in the Mafia.

Not all of New York, just Brooklyn and Staten Island.

You didn't say, was the limb across his property line ? Please don't tell me it wasn't.

It wasn't. He felt it was blocking his dish on his roof.

He said to us that there was a storm and the limb fell off and it had jagged edges and he cut it straight for us. Neighbors saw the dish go up and the limb being cut down and heard him complaining about our tree. Our tree didn't hang or stick out on his property. It may have blocked his dish by being tall.

We are still alive and well and enjoying life and so is he. Glad to be here. He probably is too. Glad we are here.

Deed restrictions seem to be the Bible for Biddies and Obsessive Complainers.

Seems many retire only to be so concerned about every minor detail of their existence because they have nothing else to keep their mind busy.

People who are not concerned about keeping this place beautiful and well maintained are slophawgs. Just ask my mom.
