You’re lucky then, count your blessings. Our last lifestyle visit the cart was brutal….we had people passing us every time we went out. |
If you're in a golf cart and there's no one in front of you look back. If there's carts close behind please pull over and let them pass you.
This is much the same with left lane drivers. |

Sorry, but I look at it a different way: I have 15, maybe 20 good years left, so I can either: A) enjoy golf, shows, concerts, movies, games, etc., or.... B) Sit behind some bozo going 14 mph on a MMP or driving 30 in the left lane of 466A or 60 in the left lane of I-75 I choose A, but everyone is free to choose for themselves. (just don't do it in front of me:1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:) |

My mantra, whether in a car or a cart is "Fast in front, slow in back", which serves to remind me that the world is full of people who are, amazingly, different from me. In a car, if possible, I'm a 7mph over the speed limit guy. Which means I have to pass some folks, but also there are a lot of folks who want to pass me.
A similar dynamic exists when I am in my golf cart. So....it's not too tough really....let the faster people around me, and they are in front of me and no longer a problem for me, and pass the slower people. Judging the character of people based upon the fact that they want to drive a few miles an hour slower or faster than I drive seems like a waste of my mental energy. "Fast in front, slow in back"....works for me. |

Bumper sticker
I was recently following a golf cart that had a bumper sticker that may apply here.
I may be a little off but close. “I am not part of your Hurry!” I like that thought. |
Quote:
If that's the case, pull over and get out of the way. You never know why someone is "in a hurry"---medical emergency, potty emergency, late to give the eulogy at a funeral for another cart speeder, etc. |

I have passed many golf carts and have been passed by golf carts. Not once have I said anything to them or have any of them said anything to me. No one giving the finger or yelling obscenities. You pass a slower cart, or a faster cart passes you, no big deal. It’s no different than when I’m on the road in my car and I pass someone, or someone passes me, there are no reactions, no fingers, no obscenities. Do these people really exist, or is this another Villages urban myth...

Actually, when I'm going 20mph legal maximum speed and get passed, I wonder what gives this special individual the right to operate an unregistered motor vehicle on our roads? No need to pass anyone going 20mph ever.

Basically, YOU don't get to dictate what anyone else does |
I could be wrong but I think you are not supposed to cross a solid white line so technically you are not supposed to pass.

Cars are registered motor vehicles. 20mph + golf carts are not, unless they are designated "street legal". And then, they are limited to 25mph.

Both of our carts are set to max out at the legal speed limit. Based on that I will make two general observations. When we were at our Villages home between Christmas and April 1st, people were always flying up behind me and usually passed despite the fact I was driving the legal limit. Since I got back down here last week, I have not been passed a single time. In fact, I seem to frequently get stuck behind people driving well below the legal limit. I guess it can be generalized that snowbirds like to fly in their carts, while many frogs are content to slowly hop down the multi-modal paths.

the laws you choose to break or bend are laws that are OK to break or bend by a tiny little bit, however, if it's a law you've decided not to break or bend, then it is a sacred law, and that little bit of leeway you allow yourself in one circumstance, shouldn't be allowed to another person in a different circumstance. And you describe others as "entitled". |

I think there's a big difference between someone passing when the guy ahead of him is going only 12mph in a golf cart, and someone passing in the same area when the guy ahead of him is going 20. The actual speed limit for non-street-legal golf carts is 19.8mph. If you're on a golf cart path or MMP, no one should be passing you in a golf cart, if you are going 19.8mph or faster. If they're passing you, then THEY are breaking the law.
And that's okay - if they want to break the law, then it's on them if they get caught. It's not your headache. If they cause an accident and you're there to witness it, you can tell your observation to the police if they ask for your statement. The only time I think I'd make a fuss, is if they're passing me on a precarious section of road. Like that rickety bridge off Morse Blvd by 466. Or any of the golf cart bridges. Or around any bend where you can't see what's coming toward you. On a straight-away though? Screw it. Let them pass. It's one less idiot you have to deal with behind you. |

My cart has been adjusted to top out at 22mph. I get passed often. I have never seen one of those carts smashed up immediately after passing me. Cars are designed to be safe at 5 mph over the speed limit? Really?? Ever seen what happens to a car when it crashes at 50 mph? How about at 70mph? That is the speed limit on many interstates. I'd rather be in a cart at 22mph, myself, but to each his own. |

what's wrong with passing another golf cart? Does this upset people? why?

Evidently. I have no clue. |
Life is too short to care if your golf cart is passed. If it ruins your whole day then you have personal problems.
I have been passed and I have passed slow carts. I survived each time and went on with my day. |
