Default Smoking in adult pool area.

We just can't believe someone would smoke in a pool with signs everywhere no-smoking in pool area.
I guess some people think they are just entitled.

I couldn't agree with you more. At one time I was that person who was so addicted to Nicotine that your rights meant NOTHING to me. I am very sorry for the way I acted back then.

I was smoking 3 packs a day at the end of my puffing career and opening the fourth pack sometimes. I considered no one but myself.

That being said I also am not The Sherriff of The Villages and if I were you I would call 352-753-0550 Community Watch. They will have someone out to handle the Mad Puffer Lickety Split! Sorry for your troubles. I've done it because the person puffing was about 20 years old and did not belong at an Adult Pool anyway. Strike 2.

Do you try to nicely ask him/her to stop? I never hesitate to do that. Quite often it works, but not always. Sometimes people just don't think and need a gentle "nudge." If that doesn't work pour a bucket of water on him.

No worse than the man smoking his cigar siting on a chair near the fountain on Sumter town square last week.
While chewing the end and spiting it on the pavers
Talk about ruining an evening out

I've had the same issue at the occasional casino visit...where smoking is allowed.

It's bad enough to sit next to someone at a row of slots chain-smoking cig's, but then there's always that ONE guy (it's almost always a guy)...that just has to smoke his stinking cigar.

And yes, I do realize I can always go to the 'non-smoking' section of the casino where they know they have a 'captive audience'...and it seems the machines are tighter.

Either call the VCDD on them or don't post. Other than complaining for no purpose.

Notice how many people hi-jacked this post to tell their own tales of woe???

I have a lot more smoking going on around the square which isn't allowed. Sad.

Smoking Regulations in Florida – Smoking

If I am reading this right, the Villages would face the fine for the smoker at the pool.

I'm not reading that at all. The law seems to apply to enclosed indoor spaces. Maybe I'm reading it wrong?

Outdoor smoking areas not addressed under Florida statute

Not really sure.

This seems to say that they can designate areas that are places smokers cannot smoke. This addresses pools.

While I do not believe that the board can totally restrict smoking, they can limit smoking to certain areas.

How far can condominium board go in regulating smoking?

Sounds like the smoker would have a problem with whoever oversees the common pool.

funny how the English language vernacular changes over time.

Back when I was young, when at the pool, "She's SMOKIN'" meant something completely different.
