He was either friendly or curious because he would poke his head out from under the door and watch me when I was watching TV. I named him Sssidney.

I could have easily shot him with my air powered pellet gun, but chose to try to trap him and release him humanely. The glue releases when vegetable oil, such as Canola Oil, is poured on it.

I purchased a Cahaba (brand) Snake Trap through Amazon, but a previous poster mentioned using "sticky rad pads" which appear similar. The trap is just a plastic container, open at both ends, in which you put the sticky pad.

When I put the Snake Trap in place the snake would avoid it. But when I put a little piece of sausage on the sticky paper I caught him within five minutes.

To see alternative sticky pads enter "sticky rat pads" in your web browser.

Too cool

Oh yes, there are snakes in The Villages!

You have the non-venomous ones such as pine snake, black racer, and Eastern ribbon snake.

You also have venomous snakes! There are coral snakes (neurotoxin) and pygmy rattlesnakes and cottonmouth moccasins (hematoxin). Watch out when retrieving your golf ball from tall grasses!

because if he was just removed to the back door he'd be back in my lanai pronto just like an anole

Is there a service you can call to have a snake removed ASAP? Can one truly snake proof their home? If you can, does the exterminator provide that service?

They taste like chicken :1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

I lived in FL for 10 yrs and never saw a snake, not even a garter snake. Please tell me snakes are not a common occurrence in TV :pray:

Perhaps I should get an education on these reptiles, is there a snake club in TV?

This topic is going to give me nightmares. Maybe I should just stay put in WA.

Snake away

There is a product called Snake Away on the market. Just ground up mothballs. Same active ingredient. Younsprinkle a line and the chemical irritates the snakes smeller andvthey won't cross it normally. Heavy rains will wash it away and has to be spread again.

I do know of a snake expert and endangered animal conservationist who would do a free educational seminar or talk if anyone is interested. I have always found it fun to learn more about the world we live in and share with other animals.
