Do you live on the edge of the village or near woods/water?
[QUOTE=Bjeanj;1703222]We returned after Thanksgiving and found this on our kitchen floor. Can only think it got in when we had the door to the garage open to get some air flow on a nice day. We also have a loooong blacks snake in our back yard as well as had a corn snake in our grill, presumably to get warm.[/QUO

Nope. We have some big bushes, though, which I think they like. And my *husband* (not me!) used tongs to get the corn snake out of the grill! And I told him to wash the tongs really good!
The snake in the kitchen was dead, so he used a broom for that one.

Ha ha! We did a month in Beaufort SC in March one year while trying to decide where to retire. The bugs were bigger than our Cockatiel. (Okay, half as big...)
I guess no place is perfect.

People keep corn snakes as pets, well, I wouldn’t but some people do.

LOL @ bugs...I'm sure that's true! Seriously tho, I have heard that if you have snakes, they are there due to having a food source(ex: mice). Arent you totally freaked they're in your house? I couldnt sleep!

We just moved in to our new place in August, we inherited an out door cat. He doesn’t like it indoors, but is very friendly, and roams as he pleases. The people before us had his shots, he’s fixed and does as he pleases. We have seen coyotes behind our property. He does get mice, because he will bring the heads to us, he does get birds. Makes a big difference on how the cat has been raised I think. I’ve seen our cat in CO hit a snake in mid air striking at her, but she was raised as a barn cat and a hunter. The indoor cat we had at one time was never allowed out for her own safety. My biggest thing for an outdoor cat is to have them fixed to control the population.

I would never let a cat out in Florida.
They probably would enjoy being out on the lanai but would only do that if I were home.

Snakes are the least of your problems. A couple years ago the electric company had to remove an eagles nest from a high tension tower near Lopez CC for maintenance. They found 26 dog or cat collars in the nest. Just sayin...
