if it is really unbearable, perhaps each neighbor can take a turn at cleaning the man's driveway for him at a time deemed reasonable.

I'm in total agreement. njbchbum. You posted exactly what I was thinking. I'm sorry we haven't gotten together yet. Let me know when you are back in town.

If his blower bothers you, be glad you don't live on a golf course. We do and the maintenance people are out there at 5:30 a.m.

The lawn people in our neighborhood do not show up at 8 am, and are gone by 4 or 5 pm. The only people who show up before 8 are the garbage trucks.

My guess is volunteering to blow this guy's driveway will not work... he likes to blow his own driveway, and nobody's going to tell him when to do it. There are a lot of people to whom age brings arrogance. Maybe a boom box aimed at his bedroom window after midnight as an example of how his self-centeredness affects others.

We've had yard crews in our neighborhood begin at 7:30. So guess this depends on what you "deem" at the "crack of dawn". Have you expressed any concerns to him in person?? You could joke about it with him the 1st time, if it continues go to him again in person. Calling in a 3rd party ie :Village Watch, the sheriff or whomever might cause bad feelings for a long period of time. What battle lines do you want to draw??

This is a tough one. That blower would not bother me in the least, but I can understand why for some it would be horrible. I wish you the best in finding a solution.

Check the county ordinances, doubt if there is one that covers it though. I know for sure Lady lake Police follow the County ordinances, as the town of Lady Lake has no noise ordinance

Apparently they have tried talking to him in person, via the neighborhood "mayor." Didn't work.

Does this neighbor have a wife or anyone living with him? After getting no where speaking to him, perhaps someone could speak to that person in private. It sounds like he could have mental issues, ie early Alzheimer's or other dementia.

Just take a walk over and tell him what you just wrote on here. Ask him if he could blow the driveway when it gets cooler in the evening. Most normal people will understand. If not , good luck.

He may be obsessive/compulsive. :loco:

We have a new neighbor for about two weeks now who likes to clean his driveway with a electric blower at first light every day Sundays included. The neighborhood "mayor" was sent in to talk with him but he states he has medical condition where he can't get hot thus early morning activities. Are there restrictions on noise before or after hours? If so what are times? How about restrictions on everyday as once a week is annoying but we could live with it.

Move to a golf course house and you'll soon find that eventually you don't even hear the parade of mowers rolling by at 6 AM, Sunday's included. Complaining to the "Neighborhood Mayor" makes it sound like a not so fun neighborhood.

Please let us know how he's doing and if he pulls through. If so, perhaps his early morning blowing noise won't be as annoying.
