Yes, even more....

What seems to be happening is the adhesive backed
vinyl sign material is failing due to weather exposure.
The material is not a forever material and has a
variable useful life depending on the
intensity of weather exposure.
OP you might be better off finding out what dept
is responsible for maintenance of signs and contacting them.
They might appreciate a list of locations with your photos.
Good luck!

Now for those that are really pizzed that I found so many and proved my point, in such a short trip, I offer the following excuses for you (pick as many as apply). :D

1. You haven't spent 40 years in an industry that requires a honed sense of observation of things that are only minutely different, haven't become very good at that sense of observation and therefore don't really notice things like this.

2. You live in an area that is predominately black lettering on white backgrounds and are going too fast past the green signs, to be able to discern their actual condition.

3. You haven't seen an optometrist in a while and your glasses are a little too weak (think the little old lady in My Cousin Vinnie).

4. You are loathe to criticize anything having to do with anything, regarding The Villages.

Thanks. :waving:

None of the above, even though The Villages is not perfect,
I see way too many things all around that are maintained
in a first rate manner.
I have bought vinyl material meant for exterior use and I do
question your assumption that weathering failure
is a sign of buying cheap.
Florida weather provides a pretty extreme environment for any sign material.
Plus adhesives used could vary in quality.
Maybe after 40 years a habit of looking for fault could be at work.

Loooong sigh. :sigh:

What does one have to do with another?

I too think this place has, overall and in general, the most magnificent landscaping of anywhere in the world.

That's one of the reasons I moved here.

BUT, I also have no problem telling the truth and pointing out problems that do exist.

So why is it only certain signs are prematurely failing and that all seem to have the same attributes I mentioned above?
