The SS office in Leesburg does have personnel available to help you with your issues. It is best to make an appointment. My husband went there and his issue was resolved immediately.

I have been there also recently. I suggest you call ahead for an appointment, you will have a much shorter wait, and the staff was very helpful. I do agree with such a large old population in TV a closer office would be nicer, but not in the villages, nearby would be great.

It makes no sense. It was suggested, since we are all now being pro-active and filling out The Villages survey, we should all comment on that and strongly request a Social Security Administration Office be opened in The Villages. We have plenty of restaurants, nail salons/beauty parlors, why not a Social Security office? It is really important and I am sure many people need it to be closer.

We all would like a post office here in TV. That anin't gonna happen any sooner than a SS office.
Strongly requesting on the survey will do no good..................the US Gov't builds SS office's not the Villages Developer.
Besides Leesburg is a nice drive..................

It sure would be nice if there was a SS office somewhere close that a person could have a face to face meeting with. Does anyone know if there is such and where? Thanks.

There is a full office there, well staffed and quite effective. It is best to schedule an appointment if you have anything serious to discuss. It takes several months. The biggest problem is with the system, medicare only up feeds info to ss system. If its wrong, the only you can straighten is by going thru Medicare.

There is also a SS office on East Silver Springs Boulevard in Ocala.

I am more comfortable having the SS Office where it is and not have to deal with all the issues within The Village Compound.

Don't be surprised if it closes down in the future. The phone system with SS is very effective.

It is an office where you can talk with a real person but beware. After waiting a couple of hours I got a clerk who was clearly their "Hispanic speaking" clerk. Although she was very nice and seemed to want to help it seemed she did not really understand me no better than I could understand her. I came home with less information than I went there with so I sat down and composed a letter with my request of why they thought I owed them money from 2009 and sent it to Birmingham. I asked them to send me a written explanation of how they arrived at their conclusion. You guessed it, after a couple of months I got a reply that this was just the way it was. My next step would be to hire a lawyer but then that would cost more than the amount they say I owe so I will just pay it back and ASSUME their figures are correct!

Sue ... Best to just drive to Leesburg and take care of biz ...then come back.I've been to the office. It's depressing as 1/2 the people in there are usually young kids most with tattoos and down/out, and looking to get on SSDI. Very sad.

Have been there also and never saw what you describe!!!!

SS very much wants you to do as much of your business as you possibly can on-line or via their 800 number. As one poster mentioned, in the future you will most likely see fewer & fewer offices open.
