I toss all advertising that comes in the driveway plastic bags right into the trashcan.

You know there are folks that think the Developer is responsible for all things that go wrong in The Villages. Not enough rain, too many lovebugs, alligators eats a dog that goes in a pond, a dog poops in a yard, etc.

Now, it is a referral fee paid to the Developer for a water treatment system. :ohdear:

Can't please everybody.

Sand...as you can tell, I am at the end of some rope. What with all that is happening in this world, my teeth are worn down with gritting them. I sometimes wish I still drank alcohol.

I am sure just as in every other business...names are sold to companys to use as sales lists.

In real estate they are called "leads" and they can be purchased from developers and business or any other establishment that wants to make a profit... and sells there contacts....

The closing information is not available from county records for a least 30 days.....

This is true the info is out there. There are so many ways it's available. Change of address, house insurance, turn on electric, turn on gas, to name a few, but lets just blame the developer. Who informs the filter company when it's a resale through a real estate agency?

Sadly, you are correct. Its a big conspiracy to some folks who live here that the Morse family is behind everything. I had solicitors when I moved into a home in Northern Virginia. I didnt realize the "family" controlled things that far north :)

"No Soliciting" is also on the gate arm at each gate so there is no way they can't see it. If they do not do so, call 911. If they do leave and go to another house to solicit, you can notify Community Watch who will "watch" them but cannot run them off.

...or, just don't answer the door.

You will probably get some BS answer, but if you catch them off guard and ask them why and how did you picked my home they just might tell you the truth.

Why does it have to be one extreme or the other? I have no doubt the developer has his fingers in many cookie jars, I think some on this forum would be emotionally crushed by the thought that just maybe the developer gets a piece of your water softener or blinds or driveway paint. If it’s true the developer gets a percentage of sales from TV retailers, he got a piece of that ice cream cone you bought yesterday. So why would a small percentage of a higher ticket item be so hard to believe.

The developer may or may not have a piece of one or more water treatment companies, why would that bother anyone. Just say no, as a nice old lady that died not long ago used to say.
