lol yeah like insurance companies in Florida it's easier for them to pay the claim than fight it in court.

I'm paying $945 homeowners for a 3 bedroom courtyard villa with sinkhole coverage.. Try Kin insurance out of Tampa.

Allstate has a program where you can pay .155 per mile driven. May be cheaper .............

And don't forget all those stupid tv commercials that run 24/7. We are all paying for that.

That brings me to car insurance. I had read that auto insurance is getting worse than homeowners here in FL. Our renewal is coming up Dec 1st and I got my "preview" package from The Hartford. Went up 50%! From $998 to $1550! I almost fell over. It's just 1 vehicle, a 2020 Kia Soul with under 25K miles in the 4 years we have had it. It does have "full coverage with highest limits but still. We have had no tickets or accidents for at least 10 years and both our credit scores are almost max high (which I was told makes a big difference). Obviously age is a factor but 50% !

So I got a few quotes with IDENTICAL coverages and not only did I find that companies (ALLSTATE, PROGRESSIVE so far) won't even write NEW CUSTOMER policies here but those that will make my renewal quote look cheap. Liberty Mutual wants $2400 for barely any coverage, and Geico wanted $1700 for barely any coverage.

Crazy.

My car insurance is over $2000 for “1” vehicle, no violations, 1 person and my homeowners has tripled

You forgot “Dan Newland”

I asked why our car insurance went up and was told hurricane damage to cars.

when this thread comes up every so often ,people don’t seem to want to acknowledge the fact that we don’t pay state tax ,don’t burn up a lot of oil or gas heat in winter months , or the different tax breaks on your home that you can receive .., I’m paying around $1500 a year for 2 year old car , I’ve heard that mine went up some when I went over 80 , quite frankly I don’t pay much attention to it , for some any raise is to much for others not so much, you have to pay so why get crazy over it . I guess the only time it will get my attention is if I get a cancellation notice for house or car .I spend a lot of time away from here and quite frankly find the villages and Florida in general less expensive then anywhere else I go .

I imagine large awards are from juries and I have to figure the jurors found the insurance companies culpable so blame the juries OR the insurance companies were at fault. But they pass along their penalties to us, we have no choice!

Auto ins

It may be due to the Kias being a high risk of theft, this is a nationwide issue with Kia n Hyundai. There's a you tube video titled Kia Boys and it shows how easy it is to steal these brands. I work for a dealer, we had 6 stolen last week! You may want to ask your insurer, some companies won't even insure them. It should have been a recall

Marsha11 10-17-2023 07:41 PM

The same high car ins. Issue is everywhere. State farm in m8nnesota is over $2200 for car driving under 6000 miles a year.no fines, accidents, speeding etc.

Kin is not in Tampa, they are in Chicago. You sure you didn't get scamed for that price ? Seems extremely low for a 3/2 villa.

Don't forget Dan Newlin, how do you think the insurance companies get the money? Raise the rates!

JRcorvette 10-18-2023 02:55 PM

Auto insurers should put a much higher deductible on cars that are damaged by Flood just like they have Hurricane 2% deductible on homes,
