I have never heard of “registration” for a golf cart, LSV’s yes, but Golf Carts no.

Why aren’t there any Honda Golf Carts Watch a 150mph Honda lawnmower race up Goodwood | Top Gear
Because their lawn mowers ruined it.

I think what he is saying
1. a golf cart by law has a maximum speed of 20mph
2. if you are going over 20mph then by law you must be driving an LSV.
3. Since it is now determined based on speed you have an LSV, then you need to have it registered.

See....there's always a way to get you.

The published "Rules of the Road" say 20 mph.

True, golf carts are not registered. What the poster is saying is that since you choose to drive faster than the legal 20mph you can be sited for driving an unregistered vehicle, thats all.

golf cart speed limit

the golf carts are required to have governors limiting them to 20mph +/- 10%

I did not realize there were so many ways to say 20mph.

There are some posted speed limit signs peppered throughout the Villages. On the Morse bridge that leads from the north of Lake Sumter into Sumter Landing Town Square, the signs say the speed limit for the bridge is 10mph.

Between the Wales gate and the Boone gate on the "Historic" side, the speed limit is 15MPH. That's a public road though, not a golf cart path. And no one pays attention to that speed limit anyway (I try but I won't lie, I usually go faster).

Generally though, the unposted speed limit would be 20MPH, because legally, your golf cart isn't allowed to be capable of exceeding 20mph anyway.
