Did you speed! I don't recall, I don't remember, define speeding?
I'll take the 5th, catch me in the act and not from hearsay!

Even better than the speeder threads are the ones about drivers going the speed limit in the left lane.

IT'S AGAINST THE LAW TO HOLD ME UP DANGIT!

Of course these people are identifying themselves as speeders, and want to break the law themselves.

Six a one, half dozen of the other. But the speeder nay have an out...emergencies, etc.

The left lane driver is breaking the law if he's holding up any traffic, including speeders.

I don't recall a single post by anyone complaining about "left lane speed limit drivers" having a valid emergency requiring excessive speed. Most of them are just in a hurry. I doubt cops would accept any excuse other than life or death emergency.

Left lane driver going speed limit and holding up traffic may be breaking the law, but those who want to pass and go faster than speed limit are breaking the law also.

I have never received a ticket for going the speed limit in left lane, I have received a few for speeding :evil6:

I agree with a few of the responding posters. there apparently is some sort of mysterious mist that permeates the air around The Villages causing otherwise law-biding citizens to suddenly have the urge to speed up, run traffic signals, ignore signal lights, plant themselves in the left lane of a 45mph zone going 30mph because by golly they appointed themselves traffic cop and no one dare pass me.

I can drive 35 in the left lane all day in that 45 mph limit as LONG as nobody behind me. I can pull into the left lane at 35 mph and make left turn and the guy that approached has to wait till I slow to crawl to turn into turning lane same as the guy behind right hand turner that stops to make the right hand turn. Basically the guy behind can't dictate what's going on in front of him.

Driving on Odell today, doing about 30 to 35 i had someone in a big suv tailgating me...about 6 feet from my bumper. Did a few light brake checks, then drove slower. At that point, the driver was 3 feet from my bumper.

Decided to stop at the hemingway intersection and get out of the car and, in my best arrogant northerner tude, discuss the tailgating.

30 year old idiot looked at me like a deer in headlights while i discussed tailgating. Said nothing while i read her the riot act.

Speeders and tailgaters...my guess dont even live inTV.

Needless to say, she didnt tailgate me after we got in Morse.

Most reported accidents seem to be on 466, 466A, 27/441 and 301, with a few reported on Morse and Buena Vista. Some are in the dome and some not but they are all in our general area.

I don't recall a single post like you describe either. What's your point?

I simply pojnted out that there can be a legal reason for driving faster than the speed limit. Never said it happens frequently.

But extended driving in the leftmost lane holding up faster traffic is always illegal.

Ooh. Are you admitting to being one of those left lane cruisers? :D

TheWarriors 12-19-2017 10:58 PM

I think Villagers are speedsters due to all the activities they are involved in and trying not to be late for them while at the same time fitting in all their routine weekly chores. The solution is to slow the Villagers down by limiting them to three classes per week and two rounds of golf. hahahahahahhahahahahaha

my favorite is to be behind some guy negotiating a right turn that takes him about 1.5 minutes. its excusable if there is a handicap plate on the car....guy while I'm still young

You may want to qualify that statement .

dewilson58 12-20-2017 07:44 AM

I speed.

But I'm not a dentist.

retiredguy123 12-20-2017 07:55 AM

When I lived in the Washington DC area, it was not safe to drive the speed limit because everyone was going 10-20 mph above it. There is much better compliance here.
