I suspect the people who literally tear through our narrow residential street daily, don't work for any particular company that would have such equipment. Furniture delivery truck that nearly hit a golf cart, didn't even had ANY identifying information on the door of the truck ! Same with the lawn mowing people, I don't think any one checks on them or even cares, as long as they get to as many places a day before dark as possible. Just the way it seems to be here !? If a person does not like it, don't think there is much that can be done. Same with the lawn care people who block entire driveways, then refuse to shut off their equipment and move their truck until they are finished ! We had that happen in our neighborhood too.

If enough of this starts to happen, I believe the "word" would quickly get around in the "lawn mowing" circles. That would help a LOT, especially if they would check for VALID licenses, valid license PLATES ON THE TRUCK, and also valid plates for the one or two TRAILERS they have attached ! Word of mouth can spread, and huge fines can cause those involved to "reconsider" the cost of breaking the laws, to the "monetary gains" that come from speeding from job to job, and from not renewing license plates and even contractor licenses and insurance. If you ever need some entertainment, just copy down some of the "state licensed and insured" numbers from various trucks and on calling cards left stuck in your doors ... any trucks, roofing, mowing, painting, etc. and then go to the state website and CHECK if those numbers are in good standing ! It can be quite an eye opening experience !

Wrote my (negative) comments on this yesterday, and today, on far south portion of Buena Vista, had a DOUBLE tandem pull out of a residential street near Havana C.C. at a rate of speed you'd think they could never reach on such a street... no visible license plate of course, and entered Buena Vista just expecting the cars in the right hand lane to to move left for their big rig... Makes a person wonder if all of them even have a valid driver's license. Florida in general, does seem to have a much higher tolerance for this type of thing than most states we've lived in ? Lack of available appropriate police recruits ? Who knows ?

??

Havana CC is north of 466A so not far south. It is near Morse not Buena Vista. The only residential streets that meet Buena Vista without a traffic circle are up north of Lake Sumter Landing near 466. There is one that meets Morse near 44 but nowhere near Havana and not close to any CC.

I've seen tractor trailers in the left lane on the turnpike passing police cars in the middle or right lanes and no lights came on

So are you saying that their needs are more important than the rest of ours?

Any suggestions on how to slow down the landscaping trucks driving through The Villages? They go flying down neighborhood streets and it’s frightening! In fact it’s hard to see the license plates when they drive so fast.

Sadly we, me included, tend to notice those who violate safe driving and not the bulk who drive safely. I see some with trailers far too large typical villages streets.
Properly INSURED, licensed, legal workers you can bet prices would go up.

Same issue. Golf cart speed safe driving? Turn signals. Etc etc.

If the speed limit for golf carts is 20 mph, I hope they keep speeding.

Ex-New Yorker. They had a program where you would take a safe driving course and save on your auto insurance. If, I recall it was like 10% off your comprehensive and ??? off something else That more than paid for the cost to take the course and was good for a couple of years. There were many others ???? about half who were there to avoid license suspension due to too many points-violations recorded on their drivers license.

Rules, it was amusing what some people think are the rules of the road. Truth we can always learn something. I recall a retired cop saying your job is to see everyone gets home safely, Not to teach others a lesson.

The law. I recall learning that postal vehicles have the right of way. Not sure if that applies to UPS, Fedex or Amazon.

The villages. Most of our driving is in residential neighborhoods. We deal with bikes, golf carts, walkers turtles, and those cranes. The cranes are truly interesting. None seem to care about rules.

In any case, THE GOAL IS FOR ALL TO GET HOME SAFELY. If, you are constantly thinking others are stupid, inconsiderate, too slow, shouldn't be allowed on the road.
Perhaps, you are the problem.

Not sure your point. May I suggest you check what the law is.

I don't own a golf cart, but I checked the law and the speed limit is 20 mph. My point is that I don't want to get stuck behind carts going that slowly. Most carts in The Villages are going about 30 to 35 mph.

Well, I agree with you-----you don't own a cart

5 years ago most carts were going 20-21
Now it seems 23 is about the norm
Anything over 20 is illegal
30 is a rarity and 35 is suicidal
