Default SS Disability Calls

Lately, I have been getting calls from my same area code. A lady will say she is "Grace calling on a recorded line", and that she is responding to a request that I made about my Social Security disability. Which I didn't, and haven't. Obviously a scam of some sort. I hang up, but I am concerned about those out there that do have or will be getting SSD. Just saying it again for the record; do NOT talk to anybody that calls you out of the blue looking for personal info!

Default SS Calls

Social Security will not call you. Scammers are copying our area codes to dupe us. If this is the first robo-scam call from a familiar-looking phone number you've had, you're doing better than most of us.

The Florida Attorney General is very interested in scam calls from both the IRS and Social Security. They have an 800 number for reporting those calls directly to the AG's Office. Call Seniors Vs Crime (352-689-4600, Ext. 4606) for that 800 number - I don't know it off the top of my head or I would place it here.

Just received a robo call supposedly from Social Security Administration -- asked for my name. I asked what name they had...caller immediately hung up. Clearly they're phishing. Caller ID showed 'wireless caller' and the number shown had area code 202 -- that's the one for District of Columbia.

The wife has gotten two calls on her cell phone claiming her SS benefits have been suspended due to a felony charge against her. You can tell it's a scam as the call is a recorded message and Social Security doesn't call you about problems, they mail you a letter.
