I was thinking the same thing. Not cool, folks. |

Your concern reminds me of the folks back home who move into the new condos in the 'hip' part of town that happen to be next to the train tracks. They then sue the railroad and city because the trains come through at night. |

Don't forget that there are lots of golf courses outside the villages on 44 and 301.

This is high season, there are more open tee times on championships then I have seen in the 9 years we have owned here. Saturday and Sundays are like a ghost town on them. In the past you had to take what ever course was available and not care what time it was. Now I can get most anytime I want even on short notice. I play them 4 days a week, but I can see in the next few years that changing as more birthdays arrive.
As I have mentioned before. Our boys play golf, but no longer as important as it once was. The younger gens want 24/7 Fitness centers with indoor pools and tracks. As for them and us brick and mortar even for grocery is a waste of my time. Even our parental units shop online, and go to grocery maybe once a month, more out of boredom, than necessity. Building the village grown is the first of great things to come for those who care about farm to table. Yes they could have put a course there instead, but the developer is looking to what will draw in the next generation. |

I drive south of 44 several times a week to golf at the Fenney courses. It's amazing how much whining people love to do about having to drive. |

But certainly not unusual. |

Golf may have been a big draw 20 years ago, but it is clearly waning in popularity. I'm glad to see The Developer putting in some new things down south. |
Getting back to the crux of the matter although I enjoy all of the virtuous jabs too...……
A person who works at the Golf Course and has day to day dealings with 18 hole golf has weighed in above and said that there isn't as much Golf business as there once was. In fact ColdNOMore brought up the idea that Golf is not as popular as it was for many of us born after the forties and fifties. Me, always a stalwart believer, thinks that the developers are carefully accessing use of Championship courses here and trends nationally. They have done a good job so far and my hope is that someone will not say they are just greedy and want to use the land for houses because then I will have to calm myself down. I better not say...It's gonna be another beautiful day in The Villages or I will get a P.M. that I work for the developer or get paid by him. NO and I am not fond of high sugar sweetened stuff in a packet that makes a drink. AND I am not easily taken in. I love, love, love it here. |

If I had a Golden Goose that kept laying, why would I let the chickens tell it what to do? :icon_wink:

To late!!! When you toke the half hour bus ride from Brownwood to Fenney and you didn’t see any thing but open fields the WTF button should have went off.

I am sure that the amenities will come and not disappoint. It's just the order in which they are being completed. It used to be here is the golf course, the rec center, the town square, and here is your home site.

With the latest flyover showing they are readying ground for the first commercial center in Southern Oaks, those folks also will have quick access to the market. |
Fenny
I think that this was all known when Fenny et.al. were first published in the SUN. We closed on our Villa the day Fenny was announced, That has been about 2 years ago.

We've certainly enjoyed reading this thread as we were encouraged to check out Fenney. Thank you to everyone. We skipped that tour, drove ourselves down from Spanish Springs Marriott. We stopped at the visitor center there and agent suggested we visit Fenney after a short chat. Until then, we knew little about TV. 3 days checking out TV told us a lot, and the forums are very useful. We live in Oregon and have just embarked on our discovery journey to consider for our retirement home. We were at TV to surprise my aunt on her 80th birthday. She's lived there for 15 years. We checked out Fenney after sales agent encouraged us to. Spartan, sterile, but new was our first impression, and far, far from everything. Sure, those improvements will come, but driving everywhere is not in our long term plans. We walked the Spanish Springs and Sumter Lake areas. We took the tram tour offered in the Sumter Lake area. We also drove the East and West side boundaries of TV, as well as the east/West highways that cross TV. No decisions after visiting for 3 days, so we'll be back later in the fall for an extended stay. We liked how everyone was friendly and welcoming. We also had a chance to visit Trilogy down in Grovelad to visit my wife's friend. TV is definitely going to be what we compare all other retirement possibilities. Only negatives we see are Summers and lack of Kaiser Permanente as a healthcare/Medicare option. Question: ever cross paths with anyone from Oregon living in TV? I might have to go and steal their pool. The whole thing. Just - transplant it into my back yard. Pretty sure it'll fit. Would someone please remind me where I parked my magic wand?

When we looked at the model and rendering of Fenney, and beyond the lack of championships wasn’t anything we worried about. Our sales person said a championship was down the road, and would be announced in a year or so, along with retail, that is true.
A Square, Oval, or Circle would come down the road also, just no location had been announced to them. The walking trails of 15 plus miles are now in place, and almost ready. Instead of a regional center they are building a recreation Complex. We are in the area about 2 days a week, either for golf ( yep we pay for a cart), or the new trails. It’s a bonus to ride a bike, walk, or run without a cart behind you. Fenney Grill was up an running as soon as homes were ready. It is busy, but by the time we eat there are few people there, just as in any restaurant in the north, We eat out about 3 times a month, and usually go out of TV. We are still considering a move to the area, it would be our 4th. what worries you is not on my list. I have been down for 5 weeks, and have been to one square, stopped at farmers market once,( I online grocery so don’t care where the store is) drove (too far to cart) to Lopez 3 times, Glenview 4 times, rest locally with the groups I play with. I am not sure I would use a cart once bridges are done. Even though the new area is selling quickly it still seams quiet and more laid back compared to where we are now. |
Not one pool table...…..

Now that is something to talk about if it is true! Is this just a rumor or substantiated?
