I eenjoy going to the evening entertainment at Lake Sumter Landing. You would normally think - Florida, lakeside, humid, dusk equals clouds of mosquitoes. No mosquitoes at all!

No mosquitoes in Glenbrook either.

The spraying works.

Some time ago, I went to Hurricane's on Hwy 441 in Leesburg. It is on the edge of a swamp. At sunset, the hordes of mosquitoes came out and we had to move inside. Ditto for Mount Dora recently.

I love The Villages!!!

Had to leave the pool this evening. Mosquitos were eating me alive! Never had a single bite here until today. Live in Country Club Hills. Haven't seen spraying this trip (since Labor Day). Does Lake County spray too?

They are still spraying. Any doubt, call the county commissioners as the county does it.

Sitting on the lanai this morning I had one bussing around, must have come in when I got the paper at 4:30. First one I have encountered, and now dead

The truck was just exiting our village when we were returning home a couple weeks ago. It must have been around eleven PM. We've been here for almost 12 years and I have yet to be bitten by a skeeter.

We've been coming to the Villages since 2009 and have never been bitten until this visit. In the past 2 weeks I was bitten by mosquitoes in several locations, usually around dusk. If there's a mosquito in the vicinity, they will get me, never my husband, so my arms and legs are covered with bites and he has none!

Thank you all for your impressions. No, we don't live near a retention pond. Also my wife (who admittedly is much sweeter) gets ten bites to my one. So maybe blood type does play a role. We were in Brownwood twice last week in the evening but couldn't stay because of the skeeters. As I said we've never experienced anything like that here in the last ten years.

Of course, check with your doctor FIRST.
Hope this helps.

tink is right check with the dr first and be sure you don't take any vitamin k if you are on blood thinners!!

I hear the spraying trucks come by weekly about 10:30 p.m. Not sure how much it's helping because there sure are a lot of mosquitos out there!

Maybe I am just lucky, but I often go for early morning (still dark) walks and bike rides, as well as many evening walks and bike rides well into darkness. I have ridden the entire length of TV and have never seen a mosquito, let alone be bitten. Believe it or not, it was one of the main reasons for buying in TV because we literally could not step outside at our last house. From the other posts, I certainly hope this is not changing.

We live in Alhambra on the pond and do not have a screen enclosure for our lanai..totally open and NEVER have had a mosquito..none

Eaten alive

Although we have lived here for 7 years without ever having a mosquito bite, we were eaten alive outside of the Waterfront a few weeks ago. It was a beautiful evening to sit outside for dinner, but finally had to move inside because of the mosquitos. We thought sitting by the lake had something to do with it.

Villages Kahuna 11-03-2015 02:46 PM

I've never seen or heard a spraying truck here in TV, no have I had a mosquito bite in the nine years we've lived here. Don't know how they do it, but they do!

joldnol 11-03-2015 03:23 PM

gnats have been more of a problem in Dunedin but we have skeeters too

2BNTV 11-03-2015 04:04 PM

Whoaaaa...... don't they have mosquito's where everyone came from? :D
