Default Outside vs inside activities

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that an outside activity such as walking, biking, fishing or golfing is entirely different from inside activities such as bowling, cards or ceramics, etc. That said, some had already abandoned playing golf, Pickleball and other activities a couple weeks ago. Different strokes for different strokes and we all have choices to make within the guidelines of the Governors executive order and it’s intent to level out the Coronavirus curve.

That was posted before governor spoke. That related to the county advisory.

The church service exception is a concession to the religious right that the Govenor and the President must appease. Even many prominent church leaders are calling for the shuttering of in church gatherings.

The Villages will have hundreds of construction workers idle for 30 days.

I could see no golf if the ambassadors and starters are deemed non-essential. They couldn't let golfers just run wild on the courses.

Maybe they will get the governor to reconsider golf. If not, I fear riots!

LOL, probably in NYC if it were up to him. He originally said (paraphrased) "since NYC is keeping the subways opened why should I shut down the whole state" Well, the subways still are running (mostly empty) but he gave in because he checked with someone first.

Oh Gracie you know me well enough to realize I wouldn't have made that up.

here is the link to DeSantis's executive order dated April 1st. See page 4 for the description of essential activities, thus still allowed:

Section 3. Essential Activities
A. For purposes of this Order and the conduct it limits, "essential activities" means
and encompasses the following:
I. Attending religious services conducted in churches, synagogues and houses
of worship;
and [my bold]
II. Participating in recreational activities ( consistent with social distancing
guidelines) such as walking, biking, hiking, fishing, hunting, running, or
swimming; and
III. Taking care of pets; and
IV. Caring for or otherwise assisting a loved one or friend.

Note that the requirement for social distancing is not applied to worship.

As an aside, why doesn't it just say houses of worship? Why specify two types of buildings and just lump all others into "houses of worship" ? Didn't want to mention mosques I suppose. Can you attend religious services in a cemetery or a funeral home or a private home such as a Jewish Sedar next week? Or are the only allowed places of worship buildings owned by denominations?

We are about to be on lockdown for 30 days and I'm speechless - golf is the number 1 conversation. I'll use this time to dust off my copy of Leisureville.

This will not peak in the US until mid July. Do some research on past pandemics to see not only are we going to be in for the long run, but it will have a second or third run at us. Just saying, smallpox didn't disappear worldwide over night. Get some hobbies and be glad you have NetFlix.

Doesn't look like the order changes much here.
