Does anyone know how street names are chosen? Just curious.

In my courtyard villa community, built a couple of years ago, all the names can be traced to real estate agents from The Villages Properties (both last names and, for some reason, some first names as well).

I was recently elected to the position of VP in charge of naming streets. You pay the developer for the position.

We charge $ 27.99 to name streets.

If you ask for 3 names at one time you do get a 10% discount however discount not applicable the last 2 days of a month.

This might help for Marion County, although I had some problems with the links. 911 Management | Marion County, FL

The streets are named so that emergency personnel have an idea where the address is from the house number and street number and name.

Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moe
Catch a STREET NAME by the toe
If THE VILLAGERS HOLLER let it go,
Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moe
My mother told me
To pick the very best STREET NAME
And yours are [not] the best like Mine.

Many of the names south of 466 and particularly 466a are from the northwestern area of Michigan where the Schwartz (Morse) clan started from.

Antrim, Petoskey, Torch Lake, Grand Traverse Bay, Alden, Grayling, Brownwood all are Michigan cities/counties/areas which have names here in TV.

My father was born in Antrim County and cut lce (for refrigeration) from Torch Lake in the Winter. To me this is a slice of home

Come down to Monarch Grove. The theme here is “streets nobody knows how to pronounce. “

Wouldn't it be interesting if they use the name of Nobel Prize winners or Pulitzer Prize winners? Or maybe famous (or less famous) painters, sculptors, early astronomers??? Probably not, that would be too academic...

On the historic side I believe some were named by the workers when the roads were being built.

For the life of me I cant remember where I heard this but I was told the street and village names all come from the children and grandchildren of the Morse family. Makes sense too! Like Toymeister said.
