The open kitchen is a persoanl choice but we like the wall feature for like others said the extra cabinet space is invaluable.

Let's see.

Direct TV lets you hook up your box direct to the phone line. So, if you want to order movies, you just click a button on your remote and your're good to go.
Newer TVs are now coming with USB connectors as the innards of the TV sets are basically a small PC. It's sort of like when the first PCs came out, "What are they good for?" Well, time and technology answered that and I'd guess it'd be the same with phone jacks behind your TVs.

Extra hose bibs, you'll find that you want to water some plants or wash the side of your house or whatever without dragging 150 feet of hose.

Get a roof on your lanai, gets hot here in Florida. Shade is good.

Go on-line and figure out the best watching distance for your size TV. Then figure out where your couch has to be for that distance. Measure the distance from the TV to the couch, check out where that floor plug is and see if it's under the chouch...

and from another thread, if your new home does not have gas (and most/all won't). check out induction stoves. More expensive but they're great.

good luck -
enjoy your new home...you will !!!!!!!!!
