The developer will be able to pass on the increased fee to future home buyers by increasing home prices, but individuals building their own homes in the county will have to bear the additional cost. The person speaking at the commissioners meeting in the linked video is the wife of one of the current commissioners. She has evidently been acting as in intermediary with at least one of the other commissioners which I understand is a violation of Florida's sunshine law. Notice the proposed increase in impact fees does not include any rollback of the 25% property tax increase which was campaign promise of 3 newly elected commissioners.

Please note if they don’t get an increase in the impact fee they won’t be able to roll back the increase. You have to have one to get the other.

Disclosure form shows Rep. Hage drawing paycheck from The Villages. Can't post the link to VNews.C O M

A Form 6 Full and Public Disclosure of Financial Interests filed by Hage on May 5, 2020 shows that during 2019, he earned $141,003 from the Holding Company of The Villages located at 3619 Kiessel Road at Brownwood. He also earned $113,554 from T&D Distribution Inc., $14,410 from T&D Concrete Inc. and $11,000 from T&D Supplies Inc. Hage earned $29,697 for serving as a state representative.

Has anyone requested Rep. Hage’s communications regarding his proposed legislation? Being on the payroll of one who benefits from legislation sure sounds like conflict of interest.

Hope he gets tossed out of office for bringing new meaning to dishonesty.

One would think that the developers as smart as they are would not do thinks that would get them caught so easily.

Why? What comments led you to believe that? The fact that you don't agree?

Villages Kahuna 03-21-2021 09:06 AM

Whose idea do you think this is? I’d be willing to bet that if a similar records search was done of the judge’s records, that someone employed by the Developer or within his circle of influence was behind the idea.

It’s just another action taken by the Developer to protect his interests. Remember scheduling public hearings at inconvenient times and locations, filling the hearing parking lots with contractor’s construction equipment, all the articles criticizing the tax rollback in The Daily Sun, the bill proposed in the state legislature to limit developer’s impact fees, the irritating request for the private communications among the new County commissioners? It’s all a pattern of the Developer trying to protect his interests now that he can’t control the Sumter County commissioners directly.

I agree. My friend and I attended the last meeting where commissioners discussed current business. With social distancing there were enough seats for maybe 60 persons. Shocking to see 11 people at their meeting. Your point is well taken. People should get involved thus better educating themselves while getting a full understanding of both sides of issues they are dealing with.

Personally if I see a bad politician I don't care which side of the fence he's on on for throwing him out also. The straw that broke the camel's back. Was the ridiculous 25% tax increase last year. The developer got greedy and didn't want to take out 50 million dollars of his own pocket which he know what he would get back through rising home prices and bond sales. They are already worth billions of dollars. That 50 million tax increase is coming out of retiree pockets instead of new sales of homes. I'm not saying a small percentage of the 50 million should not be paid by the original homeowners for general purpose funds as far as replacing old buildings or repaving roads but that's a hell of an increase that was definitely not called for

Despite the lies in the Daily Sun, neither Search nor Miller is a Democrat.

Absolute power has existed for a long time in these neck of the woods, but the peasants were treated well and no one minded or complained. But then things changed, and the peasants were no longer treated so well. Several things happened such as a 25% property tax increase and the tearing down of a Championship Golf Course Clubhouse. Now the peasants have taken note and are starting to make some noise.

Do you really think so??? Nah, it is just too obvious to really be true.

I have asked Gilpin and Breeden if they have any information about who is funding Angeliadis's fishing expedition and why. Not surprisingly, Gilpin and Breeden are not answering. Maybe more of their constituents ought to ask them those questions. The stench of the whole thing is overwhelming.

In answer to your two questions, yes the paper is wrong and keeps writing misleading and slanted articles.

Tend to avoid TV news as do not trust them either.

Thinking about your post and will update it.

I do think the paper is wrong and it publishes very misleading articles.

I guess I hold print journalism to a higher standard. and the village sun fails miserably.
