It's a good representation of the decaying American "culture".

This an absolutely beautiful video of the song that was sung at halftime.

The violin player is Lindsey Sterling and there are many wonderful videos of her.

Boo Hoo

I remember when my parents were disgusted by the arrival of The Beatles. And I was told that their parents (my grandparents) were enraged about Elvis Presley. And going back a few hundred years, Beethoven fans castigated the new scandalous WALTZ music.

Why do us old folks always bitch about the newest music?

I actually think Rhianna has a fantastic voice and does have some great songs. Unfortunately, her performance at the Superbowl was not good. I couldn't understand a word of it (she does not have a thick accent as another poster suggested), she seemed uninterested in her own performance and the crude gestures were not needed. I don't know why this generation wants their daughters growing up thinking that's what they should be doing and having their sons grow up to think that's what young women should be doing. It's sad.

Rhianna wasn’t twerking! She just placed her hand on her butt momentarily. It seemed awkward. And just No on your bedbugs comment.

You made some good points! The quick answer is that the media focuses on a young demographic nowadays. So, that explains why Rhianna and not The Who or Paul McCarthy.

And now that you mentioned it, where were the usual Budweiser ads on the Super Bowl this year?

Yup, all about who can out trash the next. Makes you feel good about the way the world is headed. This isn't entertainment it's exibition and sexual exploitation, and the excuses that people except that it's appropriate for national TV. It has nothing to do with football..So glad I did not see any of it.

Lots of dancers.

Anyone else have that issue??

Well, I recognized a couple of Rhianna’s songs. If you aren’t familiar with any of her music, then you’d have a hard time understanding the words, because the sound system was not up to par. That may be because of her moving up and down so much, made the sound unstable.

One of her hit songs, which is very recognizable, is “Diamonds in the Sky.” She did that one towards the end. She is talented, but I agree with you that overall the performance was far less than great. And by the way, Rhianna was interviewed and said she practiced more than 20 variations of her show. So this was the final cut! I also hated the gratuitous crotch grabbing stuff, just seemed awkward.

We had the same problem, but I happened on the half time show on YouTube and the audio was great understood the song lyrics clearly. That was not a act I enjoy though.

It looked like something cheap thrown together last minute. With such a large audience you’d really think they could do better.

Thrown together?!!! HAHAHA Those men had SO MUCH CHOREOGRAPHY!!!! It probably would take most people a lifetime to remember one song's dancing, let alone the crazy complex choreography they had to perform for 13 minutes. Rihanna (and her music) was incredibly boring to me, but I enjoyed the army of men.

It’s simply a lost generation
