Palm trees need food and water, are you giving it the proper nutrients and the right amount of water. You might have let this problem go too long but I would call and arborist such as Tree Frog, he does wonders with Sylvesters, really helped mine get dark green and healthy.

If you find out what went wrong, let me know. I want to get rid of all my sylvesters. They are dirty nasty trees with needles so toxic you'll end up at the ER if you get poked in the the wrong place.

IMO those aren’t bad, it the Cabbage Palm (Sabal palmetto) that’s awful. Drops the little seeds looks like BBs, the ugly fawns, ugly when not dropping crap.

Couldn’t see the bottom of the tree in your pics but if it is in a small walled off bed it probably isn’t getting enough water. Put a garden hose on that thing for 20 minutes or so daily and get the dead fronds removed. It has green on top but immediate action is needed. Don’t fertilize it now

I have three beautiful Sylvester palms that I fertilize with Lesco 8-2-12 every three months. Your tree looks like it has not been fertilized. You still have new green growth on top. All those brown and yellow fronds with not go back to green even if you do fertilize now.

I agree: Fertilize with the Lesco fertilizer. We fertilize every 3 months, excluding the winter months. We also highly recommend the arborist "Tree Frog". He came out and took a look at our canary date palm when it looked sickly. He assured us that it was fine (he was right!). I'm not even sure that he charged us. If he did, it wasn't enough to remember.

Cut ‘em down. You don’t have to get ARC approval for palm removal.

How old is it? Have you fertilized it 3 times a year? I would start by watering it 1 hour every day.
