Default Tax increase

I dont live there anymore left in 2017 but was wondering how folks feel about the 25% property tax in Sumter county. I was amazed how much it was. Will Sumter never have enough money to run the county.

It was not the property tax that increased it was the county tax. First increase since I moved here 7 1/2 years ago. It was around $300 and it is okay. Not a big deal.

Been here 10 years my first increase. No big deal 1 less beer a week. Sure hope the Administrator shuts this down before it gets going again. Not being nasty BUT if you no longer live here why even bring it up? JMO

Ours wasn't close to 25% and after 11 years of decreasing taxes not a big deal. As was noted many times on the long thread, clearly the commissioners could have done better planning so that this wasn't done in one bite.l

Not a good topic for New Year’s Day. There will be further discussions, but later. Enjoy the day. Beautiful new year in TV.

Thank you for asking. Maybe you could focus on what is happening in your new community.

Wishing you a happy New Year.

My Taxes, bond and maintenance bill I paid in November, it went up $100 on a masonry CYV valued at $133K. However, I just had it appraised it was $249K, that's $90K more than I paid for it eight years ago. However, that bill alone is still a $1,000 cheaper than just the taxes on the house I had in Baltimore County. This time of year, my electric bill there was $390 on a 2200sf home, my SECO bill just arrived, it's $89 for December, a great thing a CO-OP.

I'm with Mom on this one. My home in NY in 2015 was assessed at $275,000 and my tax bill was over $18K. Here, in 2019, home assessed at $391K and tax bill is $4,700 AFTER a $544 increase. Not to mention a yearly energy bill that was $2,475 here and $6,875 in NY, and the 6-7% NYS income tax. So I'm $40K+ ahead of the game just on those 3 items, Sumter County can have their tax increase as far as I'm concerned

How can you check? Is there a "Talk of Scottsdale" site? Most communities don't have a Talk of ________, where you learn important or not so important things.
