Sorry, I for one enjoy seeing the kids "hanging out" at the Square. They can't get in much trouble out in the open under all our "watchful eyes". Brings me back to when I "hung out" at Pop's candy store on Fifth Avenue.

As to the noise; Sumter Landing is a mini-downown, a destination as they say, where young and old, singles and families can gather, shop, eat out, be entertained, walk around and people watch and just have a good time.
Sometimes good times can be very noisey.

As to kids in golf carts GG said it best:

"I do agree that the squirt guns should be used on grandparents who allow youngsters to drive unsupervised or allow them to drive if they are to young to drive cars. EVEN THEN..... It takes quite a while to acclimate anyone to driving in TV. Please take care of your grandchildren so they grow up, get a job and be productive so you can go to them for money."

I understand there are different opinions on "quality of life". Some have
different standards than others which is what makes up a world.
When I grew up blaring loud music was not accepted on main street
and the appeal was usually outside or inside the bars where there was
a lot of drinking. If it spilled too much outside the local police would
ask the bar to lower it. In the case of Cody's it was VERY VERY loud
and made Main Street Lake Sumter appear to be one big bar. As opposed
to the historic peaceful place to go. Regarding the kids hanging out. It
is interesting that the Developer/Community have installed Country Clubs
Rec Centers, Pools, a number of outside game ALL FOR ADULTS.
Nothing has been done to provide an outlet for the kids. Yet, by law
at lease 20% of the residents can be below the age of 55. If I assume
the build out at 110,000 residents then 22,000 or thereabouts will be young adults. That will be 11,000 families with children or back to 22,000 kids.
What is planned for them on the weekends, where do they go, etc?
Oop's..Hopefully the message is getting across. We could go to the local
YMCA dances on weekends. There were bands, a bouncer to maintain
control and it was great fun. The observationi was there were over 15
kids under the age of 15 "Just hanging Out" in front of the Theater and
no where to go..That is pretty darn sad but may show the weakness
in The Villages. :confused:

No one under the age of 19 can reside in TV. These "kids" you speak of are coming from our neighboring communities and visiting grandchildren. They are welcome, but we, or the developer, do not need to provide activities for those "kids".

In all due respect The Villages markets itself as a "retirement community" If you want Club 54 go back to the city. if you want a family environment go back to the suburbs.

Hate Electric Carts!

Another hi-jacked thread! I was commenting on a VERY un-safe and scarey incident. This isn't about kids hanging out and making noise or even under-aged drivers. I'm not so sure these "kids" were under-aged but they were not using good sense and again what they did coming through the tunnel was down-right unsafe and could have been possibly lethal! Under no circumstances was this a humerous event!!

Put it in your Villages Survey.......14 years old is too young to be navigating a golf cart on the busy paths and tunnels in TV. Raise the age to 18 and impose severe penalties for allowing underage golf cart drivers. It is a severe accident waiting to happen!

Ages 18-65,no under, no older driving golf carts. Want to be safe here.
