Nothing to worry about. We've been here 6 years. Bug company sprays inside and outside of homes, once a year. This really takes care of it, but if you do happen to see any bugs, you call them and they come out and respray. They usually come out on the same day that you call. As far a snakes, we have seen about 6-7 (in 6 years) They were all fairly small and skinny and just slithered away. Again, nothing to worry about. Lovebugs are just a bit annoying but they are only here for a very short time. They are attracted to light colors and their lifespan is less than a week. They are born, they mate, they die. There are so many great things about The Villages....don't worry about a few bugs or snakes....Come on down and enjoy.

as for snakes, not seen one yet. Just be aware. If bugs were an issue here, we would not have purchased a home here.
All the best.

I was told Palmetto bugs are really cockroaches renamed for TV . Is that true. We were at Spanish Springs one night outside a restaurant. I looked down at the curb. It looked like the movie Men in Black!

Gang of big nasty bugs.

Lovebugs are annoying, but they are only around for a week or two. I've seen a few cockroaches, (yes, palmetto bugs are the same thing) but we spray around the house and we've only seen two in three months.

We have a snake that lives around here, but it is a garter or black racer snake.
I've seen him twice in the three months that we've lived here. Once he was scurrying across the neighbors lawn and one time he was in my garage near the garden hose. I wave at him with a dust pan and he ran away. he's about 3 ft long and very skinny. He's not dangerous. My neighbor had his garden hose coiled up on his driveway a few months ago. He came out one morning and picked up the hose and got quite a surprise. Old Blackie had curled himself up in the hose. But, he just slithered away. I haven't seen him in several weeks so he may have relocated. So, snakes are here but I saw snakes when I lived in Massachusetts as much as I've seen them here.

I am from PA, have owned my home in TV for a year - Not crazy about the palmetto bugs and hate those tiny ants, haven't seen any snakes yet. I am back in PA for the summer - I have killed countless spiders, have numerous mosquito bites and am constantly stepping on those huge black ants in my yard. Can't wait to get back to TV!

Just an FYI...a spider eats about 15 mosquitos a day.....don't kill the spiders.....you won't get as many mosquito bites

Here in Ohio I don't kill garter snakes because they kill Carpenter ants. Those big shiny black ants that chew the wood in your house just like termites. The garter snakes don't hurt you. Just be gentle with them. Please.
