Termite and pest control, we will wind up paying approx $650 a year with this service sold to us yesterday., ALSO THEY TREAT THE LAWN.

Without knowing a lot more, I could not begin to say whether you were scammed or not. $650/year for termite protection AND pest control may be slightly on the high side but not out of sight.

Prudent homeowners really do need termite protection if it is good protection that replaces damaged stuff if you do get termites. That means they did a real good inspection before they signed you up for the protection and will do another inspection every year before you renew. If all you brought was treatment but no protection if they damage your home, you did not get the best coverage.

Pest control - you could do yourself using Home Defense or many of the other sprays available in local stores. I suspect quite a few homeowners chose to let a service do it for them on an annual basis.

All the same things can be said for weed control, lawn cutting, house washing, edging, etc., etc., etc. It's your money - chose how you want to spend it - greens fees or yard fees or both!
