Parking

The parking spaces here in TV will fit an extended bed, club cab pickup with ease. Why someone cannot fir a tiny car in there makes no sense.

There is a reason why 99 percent of cities, towns and parking lots are now diagonal parking. Parallel parking is no longer part of driver training so younger healthy drivers were never taught and never have to learn. Older drivers (Villagers) who can't turn their arthritic necks to see where they are going just back up until they bump something. Hopefully it's the curb and not your vehicle. The developers really should have considered this when putting in parking.

Rest assured one of the fronts that you see is fake. Likely the one in person considering that it's so easy to be a keyboard warrior

Parking is at a premium, especially when the snow birds are here. Nothing against them whatsoever; I’m glad to have the crowds and revenue injections! However, I see way too many idiots that cannot parallel park to save their lives.

So what exactly are you seeing Wrong with this picture? You mention Parallel parking, but I don't see any real issues here. The black car is over the line of the parking space might be the only thing wrong, but there are Carts behind the car. Carts and motorcycles do not Parallel Park. The Motorcycle should have its rear tire to the curb, but I don't see that as anything that would aggravate anyone.

The only problem with the motorcycle parking is that it would be better for the rider for the bike to be.pointed

If everyone does what they are supposed to do, then we wouldn't have any problem.
Here in the Villages, because of the demographics, some of the peoples abilities have been downgraded. They can't park, they can't drive, they can't even cross the streets without looking both ways.
That's just the way it is in Florida's friendliest hometown.
Sometimes I wish I was back in my cabin in the middle of the woods.
Such is life......

I'll bet the motorcycle was there first. There is a golf cart behind the car. Don't know why you would use your headings to describe this situation. I'm not saying that they are right in doing what they did but why get bent out of shape. I have seen that situation a number of times and just smiled and shook my head. Not sure the motorcycle person knows what he/she is doing. You back your motorcycle in, not the way it is in the photo.

airstreamingypsy 05-26-2021 07:32 AM

Why are there lines? Just get rid of the lines, and let people park where there's a space.

MrFlorida 05-26-2021 07:46 AM

Before malls were invented, we all knew how to parallel park, now days its a lost skill , watching people try to parallel park is a comedy routine.... Lighten up and enjoy !

Could be when the motorcycle arrived a golf cart was already parked there and he pulled in next to it. That has happened to me. Then, if the golf cart leaves first, everyone assumes the rider of the motorcycle is a jerk.

EviesGP 05-26-2021 08:48 AM

Pure speculation, but seeing the car parked over the line, I suspect he /she might've been upset that the cart or bike did not share a space, thereby taking both spaces, so he/she improvised, and squeezed in?!

I only read the first 3 or 4 before my eyes glazed over but I really don’t care much about the mind set of the car driver , things happen . The mindset of the person who took pictures of the car is another thing , taking pictures and rambling on about entitlement , WOW !!! Maybe find another hobby .

There IS always plenty of parking - as long as you are willing to WALK (and get some exercise) to your destination. Yes, people here (where there is lots of parking), can get a little LAX in their parking technique. But, it is NOT a big enough problem to want to bring it to the attention of ALL the people in this forum. It IS probably a PERSONAL PROBLEM that talking to a Chaplin or psychologist could help with.

So you are saying that if someone parks in a manner unacceptable to you, then you are justified in trespassing and damaging their vehicle. Friendliest Town in America?

kyralud 05-26-2021 09:30 AM

Because someone is a poor parallel parker they are rude, ignorant or narcissistic? Wow. Maybe some compassion or tolerance could be extended. Could It be they couldn’t turn their head enough to accurately see the curb, an elderly person who gave it their best shot or some other reason?
And to suggest that people print cards implying that Helen Keller parked that way is down right mean.
To jump to conclusions that people are intentionally out to infuriate you is what is wrong with our society.
Could we try and see another side and practice kindness? Let’s make American (and the Villages) great again with tolerance, compassion and understanding. We don’t know the circumstances of why people do what they do, so let’s not always jump to the conclusion it just to **** you off. Attitude is what colors our days. If we are always looking at the negative we miss the beauty.
