There wasn't a space to be had in the Dunkin' Donuts/Baskin Robbins parking lot at Southern Trace this morning at 10 am. I'm not sure what goes on there -- maybe groups of golfers or other club members meeting after a round? That place is always hopping during the day.

Since it is still early December, the snowbirds are not all back yet, just wait until January-March!
Hard to understand why so many frogs who most likely were seasonal in the past have trouble excepting how it has always been! Then again, I think complaining is a popular pastime here! |
Thankfully their back. Things were starting to get a little boring.

Facts vs Complaints
Merely making an observation of more people present is hardly a complaint. It is a FACT that there are more people here during the winter months, wait times are longer, parking spots are harder to come by, etc. Has that not always been true of Florida? Texas is the same. We had friends there in the Panhandle who were retired and headed to South Texas every winter. Hey, there's plenty of everything for everyone, although patience seems to get to be in short supply occasionally. As for more crime: Don't think so, unless you factor in the fact that the criminal element already here just considers added population added resources for them. Welcome back!

I hear a lot of sirens. More in the winter months. Drive carefully, the roads and streets are more crowded now for the next few months.

Welcome Home Snowbirds. The traffic is denser The long lines are tenser The northern birdies are back The wait is much longer The accents are stronger The northern birdies are back The squares are more dancey Tee times are more chancey The northern birdies are back. Old friends are returning The night oil is burning The northern birdies are back. There's more entertaining And much more complaining The northern birdies are back. Not much room at the market And no where to park it The northern birdies are back Rookies on the roadways Folks driving in strange ways The northern birdies are back. New ones and old ones younger ones and older ones The northern birdies are back. Welcome HOME! We missed you. |

It was. But it could have been a frog. |
My only issue is that S. Morse Blvd ( heading towards Rohan Rec) has become a race track

I confess to having been among the blue sky- sunshine-seeking snowbirds for many years.
I confess to growing weary of the wielding of the wide brush that paints us as The Abominable Snowbirds. But, at least, now, I am terrified of lettuce. |

Your statements below do not seem to suggest "an enhanced sense of fun", at least to me (unless you find it fun to wait to wait for traffic, find few parking spaces, and find no lettuce!
"Yesterday we had to wait and wait to pull out on 466, just like we were warned when we said we were gonna build here. The parking lot for Publix on 466 was almost full on a WEDNESDAY. Inside Publix, the bags of lettuce were gone..." Quote:

Clever and quick pun fun. :) (We really do play well with others though. We are good neighbors, no matter where we are.) |
The bunkers at Turtle Mound Executive Course look like a soccer game was played in them. Please people, rake them appropriately!

I suspect that there are many who enjoy the swelling population.
I suspect there are many who do not. I welcome snowbird homeowners in The Villages. But the other three million roaming about the state and those who use our hometown for their vacation destination...….... and their sisters and their cousins and their aunts...………. sigh. |

I wasn't going to jump in but now I feel I must.
After just returning from an hour and a half of errand running....post office in Oxmoor...then to Walmart on 466....then to Publix on 466.... I will tell you I experienced witnessed/hearing more horn blowing/cussing out the window and bird flipping than my previous 15 years here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The only conclusion is yes they are here and they brought back some of the ugliest acting rude people I have seen in a ling time. Shame on the nasty inconsiderates...the snow bird as well as the permanent residents that behave like that. Gives retirement a bad name/face!!!!! |

I identify as a full-timer, but I may be wrong. My permanent address is here, as am I for eight months a year. The other four months (June-October) are spent on the road in our motorhome seeking cooler climes and even cooler adventures. Am I really a snowbird, and if so, would someone direct me to a twelve-step coping program for pariahs?
