Default Thought you should know

Occasionally we get a complaint, sometimes quite vicious, about the forum refusing to accept their registration as a new member because they are spammers.

We apologize to those people and attempt to do our best to get them registered. After all, we thrive on new members.

We thought you should know about the spammers we do automatically block from posting here. They try to log in with names like cashonline, nudepicss (about 30 times), niceguyforuxzcv, freecamseeker and Buy Viagra.

Our filtering software evaluates each potential registration and blocks those likely to be spammers.

Since June 1, for example, the software has blocked about 500 of those scum who would post the most preposterous offers.

We explain this only so you would know why some people's attempts to register are blocked.

That's what happened to my first attempt to post. I figured I wasn't allowed to post.

What are the spider bots that are in the online user lists? Are they good bots for indexing and such? You allow them when they aren't malious? How do you know the difference? Just curious about what they really are.

Good job Tony!!!!

I for one, feel very safe visiting this site. It is a shame that some people use the internet for purposes that it was not intended for.

The "Bots" you see are usually from the search engines looking for key phrases that would allow the engines to rank various sites. The more phrases that are found by the bots referring to The Villages and Talk of The Villages and the like, the higher we are placed in the returns when somebody does a search.
