Default Little Italy

We are the largest 55 and over community in the world. The state should take steps to protect us the same way it is taking action to protect nursing homes before we turn into little Italy.

Of course you can take the same steps on your own to "protect yourself". See you in September.

Totally disagree with you. This virus has spread to virtually every country in the world in just weeks. It's just getting started. It's obviously highly contagious. Our greatest exposure now is from people flying in to be guests. They might get it on the plane ride in. The best way to kill this thing is to severely limit contact with others until it passes.

Yes it's true and possibly some younger because unfortunately they do not have enough ventilators to treat everyone who needs one.

Unfortunately, without the government stepping in, people just won't voluntarily follow CDC guidelines. Just look at Florida's beaches right now. Packed and no social distancing at all. Gov. refuses to order beaches closed. Puts us all at risk.

This is not an ‘over the top’ comment and concern! There are a lot of elderly people here with SERIOUS HEALTH concerns that don’t NEED to be exposed to this virus. Visitors of all kind need to stay away. We are not immune to this...why would we be?

In some places, but the number of new cases in China and S. Korea where it was first reported is rapidly on the decline. This may be due to the restrictions and testing they enacted, or it might just be the natural history of this pandemic. It will peak and then fizzle out, what we're trying to do is flatten the peak

Wow, that's draconian but rather necessary. The notice shows

"Beginning at 2:00 p.m., checkpoints will be established at entry points to Dare County and no visitors will be allowed access. Permanent residents, non-resident property owners and non-resident employees of Dare County businesses may review entry guidelines at Entry | Dare County, NC. Reentry permits from previous years will not be accepted. Staff is working to activate the online permitting system by 1:00 p.m. "

Being from North Carolina, and have visited the Outer Banks many times, Dare County has always been a close community with residents tracing their ancestry back to the 17th century. Many full-time residents are extremely providential and proud of it.

I understand their concern, particularly the impact on their infrastructure.

IMO, this is just a start of a necessary trend in "protecting our own".
