The longer the thread gets, the more Buscemi's voice rings in my ears too.

Google Mr. Pink tipping and the YouTube link is right there. NSFW

Lot's of other possibilities rather than ASSuming a $2 tip was left on a $42+ tab. Somehow I highly doubt it even for a cheapskate tipper. That's a bit of a stretch.

Oh and as for Mr FACT! Yes, I do feel for the server who may be making $5 or $7/hr before tips and still leave a decent tip even if things weren't "great." Maybe they were having a bad day and were upset because they couldn't make a car payment. FACT! We're talking "Pancake House" here not fine dining at Ruth Cris Steak House.

What’s the difference between Ruth Cris and Ihop. If you eat at a high end steakhouse your supposed to tip more? Cheap is cheap I see it at the square people order $9.50 in happy hour drinks and walk away without tipping. And if they do it’s very little. I hear it all the time from wait staff how terrible people here tip.

I often wonder just how much the " lite-tippers" save on an annual basis . Perhaps on average $100 to $150 per year ?

Wonder what they do with all of that extra cash ?

They take the family to IHOP

I mostly agree. Point is the Town square bar ladies and men are neither of those 2 examples you gave and both of your examples bust their asses to work for tips.

Nothing wrong with tipping the Square ladies and men but they don't "work for tips" as your other 2 examples do and people who just toss their loose change (or nothing) into their plastic cups shouldn't be used as examples of "cheap tippers."

I generally end up tipping real RESTAURANT SERVERS closer to 25% but tipping the Square ladies and men is another story. Nothing wrong with doing it, just not necessary.

As for higher tips because the restaurant is "high price" that always bugs me because it really shouldn't matter. The service for a $50 3lb lobster entree is no different than for $15 haddock entree at the same table but unfortunately that's how the "screwy system" works.

Servers should be paid a flat wage.
