All 7,500 scheduled appointments for first doses, including those who received scheduling codes but have not yet scheduled, have been placed on hold until we receive adequate supply of the vaccine.

So it sounds like even if you have an appointment time, all is now on hold.

It was very clear on my email that anyone scheduled for a first appointment from tonight forward will not be having their shots until more supply comes in.

We had an appt friday at 4:30 and there was no vaccine.

Got email this a.m. saying I am on wait list while they wait for more doses to arrive. Wish it were quicker but reassured their communication is working. Just a while longer I hope...

Actually they did say if
You have an upcoming appointment for the first vaccine scheduled, you will NOT be getting it. They will try to give everyone who already had the first vaccine, the 2nd one. Everything else
Is on hold.

Hummm, Maybe better to wait for the Johnson and Johnson one shot...

People have reported that they were turned away at the Saferestart site on 466. They had appointments for their first shot and were told there was no vaccine for them.

Has it been reported what the J&J vaccine efficacy is?

So, what date were you able to get online to register? And did they give you your appointment right away? Also, did they give you your appointment date for the 2nd shot at the time they gave you your 1st appointment? or when you showed up for the 1st one?? or what. Thanks in advance

It says testing site. Is it both a vaccination site AND a testing site?

As I recall only about 50 or so percent. Good but not nearly as good as the others.

Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ) is developing one of the most closely watched Covid-19 vaccines, considering that it is a single-dose shot that should be relatively easy to distribute. Here’s a quick rundown on the recent developments for the vaccine. Based on data from the phase 1/2 trials of 805 participants, published on Wednesday, the vaccine generated a long-lasting immune response with 90% of participants generating neutralizing antibodies against the Coronavirus. Based on these early-stage findings the company expects the vaccine to be more than 70% effective, noting that efficacy could reach “very high levels”. For perspective, the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, which are being rolled out in the U.S. are over 90% effective. More conclusive efficacy data from J&J’s phase 3 study which has 45,000 volunteers is expected in the coming weeks with the company likely to proceed with emergency approval if the results are favorable.

January 21, 2021 THE SUMTER COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT PROVIDES UPDATES ON COVID-19 VACCINATION Media Contact: Megan McCarthy DLCHD60PIO@flhealth.gov 352-569-3102 The purpose of this memo is to provide you an update concerning the COVID-19 vaccine situation in Sumter County and outline the next steps forward. As many of you know, the mass vaccination effort conducted by Global Medical Response (GMR) was suspended on January 16th due to a shortage of vaccines. Since that time, the health department has been in contact with GMR and has received from them a list of persons that were appointed but did not receive vaccination. Additionally, the health department received 1,000 doses to vaccinate the public that can be applied to service this list. Therefore, the plan for these 1,000 doses is to appoint those remaining people who received an appointment for Saturday afternoon (1/16) by GMR but were not vaccinated as well as to begin appointment for persons who were scheduled for vaccination on the early morning of 1/17. The health department will call these individuals to schedule these appointments which will be spaced out over three days; January 22 nd, 25th and 27th 2021. Beyond this, as additional doses are received by the health department from the State of Florida, I will continue to vaccinate the GMR appointment list in the chronological order of their scheduled appointment. Please understand however, that those already requiring second doses must be given priority over the list of persons needing primary doses to ensure the success of the overall vaccination effort. Second doses will be automatically scheduled and administered by the health department. You will receive a vaccination card of that second dose appointment date. No further actions are required by you. Please note that these vaccinations will take place at the Wildwood Community Center, on 6500 Powell Road (and not at the site where GMR was doing mass vaccination). Additional vaccination sites may need to be sourced in the future as the situation warrants. Finally, for those of you waiting for your second dose from other vaccination opportunities previously conducted by the Sumter County Health Department, that re-supply process is moving forward smoothly. You will receive your second vaccination on the date that you were given. Please allow me to close by thanking GMR for working with the health department to provide vaccination in the most orderly manner possible under difficult circumstances.
