Default Toilet Paper Hoarding

Went to Walmart on 466 at 8:30 this morning. No toilet paper. The employee told me that they get shipments every day, but the seniors come in as soon as they open up and buy up all the toilet paper and paper towels. Really? Let’s chill people and quit eating prunes if we must!

There are restrictions. It isn't 10 seniors buying up 100 packs of TP. It's 200 seniors lining up before the store opens, hoping to be one of the people allowed to walk out with one pack, out of the 100 packs delivered.

All the supermarkets are rationing their supplies to their customers now.

Today I went to 466a walmart at 6am (senior day, not a lot of people) and 441 walmart thereafter. Both stores told me no deliveries were made last night, therefore no TP. I have made 8 trips to stores, all hours, since Saturday and no luck. Thankfully a good samaritan helped us!

Just got back from Big Lots in Fruitland Park. They have a decent supply of their house brand TP. $4.95 for 12 rolls. Two packages per household.

Better hurry though.

If you go on line to public and make your order for groceries for delivery , you will get one package of toilet paper plus whatever else you need. Assuming that it has been received by the store. That I find is the best way to actually get what you need. Plus you don't even have to leave the house.

Where is there a Big Lots in Fruitland Park? Do you mean Leesburg?

The person who told me said Fruitland Park and I had no trouble finding it right off highway 27 between 441 and 44. In any event, it is close by.

Good idea ... when I was a teenager in Texas we used to "wrap" a house. If you really liked someone, you sneak out of the house at night and throw about 5 or 6 rolls of toilet paper up into their oak trees.

Hey, we were dumb kids but it was fun at the time.

OK, thanks ... it's Leesburg. Shhhh, don't tell anyone, let's let them drive around Fruitland Park! Maybe my wife can finally stop shredding the Villages Daily Sun in preparation for the apocalypse.

Procter and Gamble is ramping up production of Charmin. The PA plant is working. There are 2200 employees there.

An idled GA plant is being brought back. Other US plants are in UT, CA, MO, and WI.

P&G is doing everything possible to protect the health of employees on the job. But who really knows where all this is going. Let’s hope no lives are lost because of selfish fellow-citizens who are obsessed with their own behinds.

This morning I was listening to Leonard Cohen on my iPod. (Yes. I still have it.) In his song “Democracy” Cohen writes about “America — the cradle of the best and worst.”

“Sail on, sail on
O mighty Ship of State
To the Shores of Need
Past the Reefs of Greed
Through the Squalls of Hate
Sail on, sail on, sail on, sail on.”

Maybe take a little time to look up the lyrics to “Democracy” and give it a listen — and some thought. Leonard Cohen was a poet for our time. What would he be writing now.

And what would Mr. Whipple think of this underbelly type of behavior over Charmin. (cringe, shudder)

As I have said elsewhere, I refuse to be part or parcel to any of this mass hysteria. When I run out of TP I'll use cut up old cotton t shirts, which I have plenty of. No, I won't flush them, put them in a bucket of water, when enough accumulate rinse in utility tub and put in washer with some bleach. A bit messy? Yes, but much better than joining the "herd mentality". Painters rags are available at H.D. or Lowes. Just an idea I wanted to put out there. Each to their own.
