My grandaughter lives in Beverly Hills (north of here) and she said her neighbors just had a tree fall through their roof (suspected tornado) YIKES!!! Looks like I got here just in time huh?

My weather radio has given me at least four warnings of one sort or another since a little after 11:00 this morning. Right now, at 4:30, all seems quiet, after a doozy of a downpour a little while ago.

The Cat is a trifle nervous. I am not perceptibly so.

This too shall pass!

3:45: the boss tells me to run to Walmart to get pizzas for our visiting grandkids.

4:00: the sky is falling, the sky is falling! leaving Wally World with two pizza acting as sails; managed to get into the car (soaking wet), can't see the parking lot to drive much, tree branches falling all over the place, low spots on road filled with water, etc. Got home and my American Flag's 1/2" diameter pole is bent in half and the top of the yard light fixture blew off. My daughter took a phone movie of our 20 ft tall oak in the back yard being blown nearly horizontal.

4:35: still raining but not hard and the wind has died down.

Shelter in place - you can't outrun a tornado. If you are home, find a location as close to the center of the house as possible. A room with no windows is ideal - such as a walk-in closet. Keep your cell phone with you. Not a bad idea to keep a couple of bottles of water as well. If you have medication to take under stress, nitro, inhalers, etc, keep that with you as well...

From the looks on the radar, y'all should get more rain for a while! Here is a link to the radar website we use at the golf course where I work. It has an interactive feature that allows you to zoom in and out as well as scan the whole country. IMO it is nice.

One medium palm broken by the wind and rain in the Village of Bonita. The rain was coming in buckets! It soaked my hanging wreath on the front door - and it was protected by a 6 foot overhang. We got over 2 inches of rain here but it seems to have ended.

I love that web site also. From the link provided by jgbama, mouse over Radar and click on Java Radar Loop which is the actual radar. The rain looks much friendlier now and the golf courses need it. That initial nasty rain band is headed off into the Atlantic.

Also - something to cover your head. A flashlight. Your wallet/purse, keys, pets, and a portable radio could be helpful. (I have a portable weather radio which goes with me.)

As far as location within your house - be aware of what is around you - something that could topple over? Framed art or photos with glass? Mirrors?
