I have been having this problem for 2 weeks now. Our provider is AT&T Uverse, so it is not just Century Link. I spent an hour on the phone with them and they walked me through some steps to try and fix it. They told me to Clear Cookies/Cashes, Delete Browsing history, delete my link to TOTV in my bookmarks, and do a security scan, all of which I did, and I am still having the problem being diverted to WW2.talkofthevillages
which takes me to "GoodMayor". The Uverse rep said the virus must be coming from an advertisement on TOTV.

I was also one of the folks affected for several days. When the administrators get a complete understanding of what happened, I sure would appreciate a posting of a semi-technical explanation.

I had cleared all cookies, web cache, etc. and ran Malwarebytes and Spybot scans which found nothing. Yet both of my computers, Windows 7 and Windows 10, Firefox and Internet Explorer, were constantly redirected to malicious sites. I did not reset my router and yet yesterday I was suddenly able to connect. It seems to me the issue was fixed either at the TOTV web site, or with Century Link, my provider.

Please allow me to reply to this hack-virus-issue by shouting:

TOTV AND/OR CENTURYLINK OWES ALL THE AFFECTED USERS A DETAILED EXPLANATION AS TO WHAT HAPPENED, WHY (IF KNOWN), AND WHAT TO DO IF THIS RE-OCCURS.

Apparently a large ToTV user base was directly affected, some impacting their PCs with costs to clean or check their equipment. Rather than no communications, it would be professional for either or both suppliers to alert their customer base and clear the air.

I am glad that someone got through to Prism CenturyLink. I have become very used to boilerplate responses over the years.

what you quoted was a boilerplate response.

Unless I've missed it, why hasn't the TOTV Administrators posted SOMETHING on this matter even if they can't explain it. To completely ignore the matter is not right!

they have on another thread and despite taltarzac's repeated tries to make this a virus or phishing scheme it was a domain/host issue as i stated repeatedly.

ALL,

I received an Email from ToTV regarding the connection/redirection problem.

It provides all of the info needed, no virus, the problem was with the server that hosts the ToTV site.

Look at your email, you should have the same info.

E-mail from TOTV Team--

Quote:

3) The company that hosts the server that TOTV is on had the issue.
4) Any website on that server was being redirected.
5) We didn't have available updates sooner as we were waiting on the hosting company to fix and report back facts.
6) No user account or password was compromised as the TOTV software was secure and had no virus, malware, or corrupt files on it.
7) After the issue was fixed your ISP would be refreshing their data and this propagation time will vary in the amount of time to update. Century Link users seem to have been the most affected by this.
You are misrepresenting my position. I posted that this was phishing/spoofing on the Internet Service Provider. That still looks to be the case but it was done through the hosting company and not the Internet Service Provider. The hosting company was the one with the problem. And from what I saw on my computer someone was trying to misdirect TOTV users to get them to go to that 2www. site. That is spoofing or phishing.

I believe you insinuated TOTV had not paid their bills for their domain name and/or hosting, neither of which is true.
