What Happened to the Reporter
What happened to that little newspaper that I got in my mailbox every week? :dontknow:The one that always told it like it was. Did the LaLa paper(Sun) buy them out?
I enjoyed getting the other side of the story. Now it just takes up room in my mailbox.

Re: What Happened to the Reporter
There's a web site http://www.ocala.com/apps/pbcs.dll/section?Category=reporter which may be the successor to the paper that you're referring to, "The Reporter in the Villages." The cost of subscribing to the Villages Daily Sun is so cheap that it would be difficult for another print paper to compete. You'll see articles on this web site which seem to have been overlooked by the "LaLa paper."

Re: What Happened to the Reporter
I subscribe to The Star Banner which is the Ocala paer. The Reporter is now included inside the Star Banner every Thursday. The Star Banner was always the publisher for The Reporter and the costs of mailing to The Villages got to be too high.

Re: What Happened to the Reporter
The REPORTER has been a very valuable source to get the "rest of the story", particularly about criminal activity and other potential hazards to our lifestyle in the Villages but not generally reported in the Daily Sun.
Alison Brown, the current Editor of the Reporter, is scheduled to be the guest speaker on Wednesday, April 18th, 7 P.M., in the Lake Miona Recreation Center. This talk is open at no cost to all Villagers. Alison's presentation is being sponsored by the Property Owners Association (the POA is another good source to get the rest of the story). All attendees will likely have plenty of time and opportunity to ask her some of the questions noted in above posts. Alison and her staff are anxious to hear from Villagers. She is also willing to publish stories, along with photographs, submitted by Villagers of any activities of general interest. Please let her know how you feel about the Reporter as currently published and delivered whether the comments be positive or negative. |

Re: What Happened to the Reporter
;DYes I know we still get the Reporter in the mail but it sure has changed. It's tame compared to what it was.
