Default Traffic Light Change

Information Provided by Sumter County Public Works Department



The traffic signal at Morse Boulevard and Rio Grande Avenue will be in flash mode from 10:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. beginning August 9, 2019. It will flash yellow for through traffic on Morse Blvd. and red on Rio Grande Ave. for the side street. It will be in this mode during night time operations only and return to its normal function during the day beginning at 6:00 a.m. If you have any questions, please call 352-689-4400.

What a Great Public Service Message. Is that the light that nobody uses their Turn Signal at?

That would be one of many that Villagers don't use their turn signals at.

As they should. If you almost rear-ended them, you were following too close.

I hope they do that at Morse and San Marino also. I can't begin to add up how much time I have spent waiting at that light over the years.

That would be nice too. I would also hope that drivers remember the speed limit is 30 mph from the Morse North Gate to the Morse South Gate. There have been many bad accidents on Morse north of 466.

A 4-way trip-light would've prevented the need for flashers.

I knew someone would come up with that, but most of the time it isn't true.

No, not too close -- just the driver who thinks he's driving slow enough and doesn't need to turn a signal on and refuses to admit that he is wrong.
