There are in some of the Regional Recreation Centers, but there is a fee to use them. I don't know what the fee is, and could not find it online.
There is also an MVP center in Brownwood, and several other smaller facilities sprinkled around. DH has access to Anytime Fitness through his health insurance ~ The Silver Sneakers program for folks over 65. |

I try hard not to be a beach, but sometimes I can't help it. This is one of the true disappointments upon moving here. We both understood our villages sales person to say the exercise equipment was free for villagers. It isn't. Classes are free. Not the equipment rooms. Would I have moved here if I had known? Absolutely. Just a disappointment.

If you use a rec center gym do it at your own risk--some person told my wife how to use a machine & she injured her neck-I belonged to MVP, she wanted to go cheap--she now belongs to MVP
You get what you pay for--safety has no price !!!! |

This link The Villages Fitness Centers has the info about the five fitness centers. It's $365 a year for a single person. I visited the Seabreeze Rec Ctr location about four years ago and there was maybe 8 people in the room and it felt crowded. It's simply a glorified motel exercise room.
When Brownwood MVP opened 3 years ago, I joined and go 5 days a week. It's not cheap, $60 a month for a single person, $100 for a couple. They also have classes, my wife enjoys Zumba and goes to a yoga class with me. She previously went to a free Zumba class at Sterling Hgts Rec Ctr and never broke a sweat. The classes at MVP are much more intense and I love yoga to help keeping limber. They have yoga classes everyday of the week. I also take group power 3 days a week, it's a 60 minute cardio and weights class. Then there are a lot of treadmills, stationary bikes, free weights, workout equipment, spinning classes, etc. |

Yes, there is the gym at Colony. There is monthly fee not sure of the price. If you call the main office of the Villages, they should be able to clarify all of this.

Ocala has a Planet Fitness, it would be great if somebody would open one up close to TV. 19 dollars a month, no contract and you can use any Planet Fitness in the country. If you only want to use your home gym I think it is 10 dollars a month.

Also just about a half a mile south of Oakwood on 441 Too Your Health opened a new gym. They have a special right now two people can join for $19 a month for each person. I was able to find somebody else to join with me to get that rate. The lady that I found her husband has silver sneakers so he did not need to join! They also have an indoor pool! That is exactly why I joined! They also have exercise classes!

I belong to MVP in Spanish Springs. I was grandfathered in from The Wellness Center and I pay 30 something dollars a month. The classes are great, plenty of cardio machines, free weights and weight machines. I go anywhere from 4 - 7 days a week The winters are a little crowded, but what else is new.

I go to the gym at Laural Manor and it is wonderful. Lots of treadmills and ellipticals, hand weights and many other weight machines. There is always a staff member at the desk always willing to assist you if you need help with the equipment. People there are very nice. I am very glad I joined. I tried MVP sometime ago and it was always to crowded. I am much happier at Laural Manor.
